This sounds like a very interesting opportunity. Any idea what kind of scratch I've got to throw Blago's way to make something like this happen for me?

Umm...what exactly does this have to do with Blago? Because he's from Chicago? And the city has internships???!!! What a pointless post.

Did you catch the report (from ABC I think) yesterday that Blago was a bookmaker before he began his political career?

I wonder what odds he's giving against his acquittal.

Blago is governor, not mayor. I don't get it.

$20 an hour plus $100 an hour in under the table cash.

You don't become Governor of Illinois without the Chicago machine, silly rabbits.

I'm surprised I have to explain the humor behind attempting to lure MBAs from top programs into the Chicago political machine for $20/hr, or the connection to current economic and municipal-political events.

-- While it was much appreciated, UBS employees up in Stamford should probably be focused on keeping their jobs rather than taking the time to come up with super clever quips like the above.

@18 (and @20 dupe post) George Ryan, although Republican, was very much the "machine" candidate as he was running against Walter Netsch who was considered to be a "lakefront liberal" reformer. The centerpiece of Ryan's platform was a $10 billion roads and infrastructure program which any Chicagoan knows gets the "machine" guys salivating.

Blago has one g, there, I said it.

24

@21

Check your sources. Pretty sure Walter Netsch never ran for anything. And the actual candidate (Glenn Poshard) was supported by Daley (i.e. the "machine").

$20/hour * 100 hour week * 52 weeks = $104,000

Looks a lot like IBD associate money in a zero bonus year

Blago went to Pepperdine and got a J.D.? Wow, that's something to makes EP jealous since she was probably rejected and that's why she hates California so much.

Notable faculty there:

Ken Starr (Dean of the Law School)

Other former visiting faculty:

Sam Alito
Antonin Scalia
William Rehnquist

So that's his breeding ground, a wingnut breeding machine! Very interesting.

@24, 21 here. You're right, the Dem candidate in the prior election to Ryan's first term was Dawn Clark Netsch , Walter's wife. Agreed that Daley didn't officially cross party lines but the machine guys knew Ryan was really their guy.
