Repo of a car loan made with bailout $…in default already so in the interest of looking contrite, bank directors must now drive them.

  6. Posted by guest | December 11, 2008 at 1:52 PM

The joke is that a Director at Suntrust should probably make enough money to have a nicer ride, jackasses.

This is weak. Very weak. Person could be Director of facilities, for all we know. Plus the car isn’t that bad. Maybe his is in the shop and he borrowed it from his daughter for the day.

  20. Posted by guest | December 11, 2008 at 2:05 PM

Nah, that’s a mid- to late-80′s Celica with some slightly better after-market wheels. (Slim chance its a mid-80′s Audi coupe… around the time people stopped buyin em)
More importantly, that’s some Beverly Hills Cop ish…

  21. Posted by guest | December 11, 2008 at 2:07 PM

A Cadillac Caterra, perhaps? A favorite of the blue haired set that wouldn’t dain to be seen in a Buick, but couldn’t afford something nicer.

  36. Posted by guest | December 11, 2008 at 2:25 PM

Is it too lame to say “your job at SunTrust might be in trouble if the director is driving a twenty-year-old Toyota”?

  38. Posted by guest | December 11, 2008 at 2:29 PM

Everyone is a director in banking, especially given this isn’t Robertson Humphrey. This guy probably makes $50 thousand a year.

  39. Posted by guest | December 11, 2008 at 2:30 PM

@37 Actually, isn’t that a good sign? Chances are he didn’t “kill it” underwriting CDOs and RMBS which is why he’s rocking a crappy ride. Ergo, he’s not getting killed right now and therefore less likely to have to can underlings.
Of course, from word on the blogosphere, this is not the case at Suntrust.

  40. Posted by guest | December 11, 2008 at 2:31 PM

    @39, Instant Classic…

  49. Posted by guest | December 11, 2008 at 3:27 PM

@ 40 Sutrust has done some absolutely TURD deals in the MBS/ABS space. Take a look at STACS 2007-1. This was an Alt-A/Prime-ish 2nd’s deal that has shit da bed in the worst sort of way.
Fact is that “banks” like Suntrust got the sloppy 8ths after real wall st. firms were done in terms of quality and talent. They were and remain a joke.

Reminds me of the scene in Ft Lauderdale, High-rise bldgs within 100′ of each other with massive Sun Trust, BofA, etc logos up top, adjacent to empty ‘luxury’ condo towers.

  52. Posted by guest | December 11, 2008 at 3:39 PM

The only scene I know in Ft Laud is a bar called Dudes, where guys that look like first year analysts dance in jock straps. Yum. GAnalYst

  55. Posted by guest | December 11, 2008 at 3:54 PM

You guys are idiots, that’s the new post bail-out GM hybrid. Looks like shit, drives worse, and costs so much you need to be an executive at SunTrust to buy it.
What would we do without congress?

@59 no need to read further…

  60. Posted by guest | December 11, 2008 at 4:58 PM

Definitely a Celica, but the real classy touch (besides the BBS look-a-like rims) is what appears to be the addition of a plush carpet surface to the dashboard.

  61. Posted by guest | December 11, 2008 at 4:59 PM

@50 “real wall st. firms” ahahahaha you my friend are living in the 80s.
Suntrust is still operating, which makes it 1,000x more successful than lehman, bear, merrill, etc.

In an effort to make inroads in the 18-27 year old demographic category, Sun Trust has recently retained a consulting group, formerly of General Motors, to advise it on lifestyle branding.
