Citigroup Grounded

Picture 280.pngCityfile reports that while the ban on color copies has proved to be a huge success, Citi still feels the need to cut costs for reasons lost on us. The behemoth has put two of its corporate jets up for sale, both Dassult Falcon 900 models, likely to fetch around $35 million a piece, though the Big C has not put a price tag on the planes and would likely flip them for a ten-spot and a moment to cry. For those of you worried about how Citi will entertain CNBC employees moving forward, do not despair– the company still has several other fleets, in addition to free passes on this bitch.

    Um perhaps no one told ‘em, but all those pretty private jets, helicopters, yachts, etc everyone’s been hoarding and gobbling up the past 5-10 years aren’t immune from macro economic downturn.
    How many people or firms are seriously ready to drop $35mil on a used (one that’d need Gil Grissom to inspect pre-purchase none-the-less) Dassault?

    @5 All the more reason for them to keep them on their book at cost. Last thing we need is two more $20m holes to fill.

    Bartiromo’s knee prints are on the rug in one of the Global Expresses. You can’t get from Davos to NYC direct without refueling on a Falcon.

    Hahaha! Good post.

    @11
    The 900 EX has a range of 4500 nautical miles, that’s enough to get from Davos to Minneapolis without refueling.
    It looks like they’re keeping both of the Globals and dumping both of the Falcons. Probably safe to assume neither Ford, GM and Chrysler will be bidding on these.

    I was worried things might not be fluid without the silver bullet but I see Citi will be entertaining moving forward so we’re ok.

    If I buy it will Erin Burnett go with me to Mongolia? I can take her and sisters to the their favorite spa anywhere in the world and her parents to NZ and Aussie.

    Will the carpets be cleaned prior to the sale?
