CNBC Can't Decide Which SUPER SALACIOUS STORY It Wants To Tell About John Mack And Lloyd Blankfein

Picture 291.pngCharlie Gasparino and the Power Lunch gang could hardly keep their giggles under wraps just now, reporting the breaking story that the CEO's of Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs were spotted eating dinner together on Monday at the Palm, and, sources tell them, have been dining together regularly. Could this signal a merger, CNBC wonders? Senior executives at both firms say no, that is not the case, but rather that Mack and Blankfein are merely commiserating about being bank holding companies, and strategizing how they're going to deal with their new status. Oh noes for CNBC! Think, damn it, think! If the story about GS and MS merging is bull shit, what would make an even bigger (fake) story?? [snaps fingers] How about a "developing LOOOOVE story"?

Sources tell CNBC this relationship became "increasingly intimate" just after the Lehman bankruptcy and since insiders have shot down merger rumors, it must mean the two are fucking! But wait, we're talking about two guys, so how is that possible? Michelle Caruso-Cabrera asks, hehehe, "Which one is the girl," hehehe. Gasparino's sources tell him Mack paid so I guess it must be him? Probably, though sources tell Dealbreaker that the MS CEO is actually a bit of a feminist and insists on trading off. Since Blankfein grabbed the bill on their last date at a leather bar, it was only fair for the Mackster to get this one.

cnbc makes me ill

very very ill...wall st should boycott the channel and just watch bloomberg NEWS, that would cut their viewership by 2/3.

I heard they paid with their Amex TARP card. $10 billion credit limit.

CNBC is a total joke. It's only watchable to see the clowns and parade of analysts who have been dead wrong over the past 18 months.

Last night on The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch, Steve Gliesman tried to get a 28 year old woman who leveraged 9 properties, bailout from the CEO of ING. Did anyone else see that? That was disgraceful. The 28 year old should never be allowed to borrow from a bank again. The CEO of ING politely took a pass (on air).

I hope he didn't bail out her recklessness.

Since when is it the job of reporters to bail out anyone? Since when is it the job of reporters to be reporting "fluid" incorrect rumormongering!!??

@10

Dealbreaker excluded too

12

Why would Bess be dissing them and especially MC-C? That is exactly the kind of giggling going on while she and EP are "at work".

Bring back Liz Claman!!!

Chaz has the inside story on this because he was the third party in the circle jerk with Mack and Blankfein in the men's john at The Palm.

16

You're The Man Charles. Good to see you finally GOT something worthy to gossip about tonight at happy hour!

17

@ 15 - "the Palm" -- heh heh - nice touch...

18

Posted by guest , Dec 03, 2008 2:27PM

@12- hi simpleton. cnbc is being dissed for a. the fake stories (merger, relationship b/t mack and blankfein) and b. the really awkward display of homophobia.

The problem with CNBC is that they have to make up sh*t to fill air time. Seriously, Erin Burnett asks some of the stupidest questions. They need to cut their finance-related airtime in 1/2.

20

Posted by guest , Dec 03, 2008 2:50PM

Somehow, Erin Burnett is being sold to the public as a "Fiancial Expert", as per her appearances on Meet The Press on Sunday and frequent daily appearances with Brian Williams on NBC Nightly News. Seriously. MB must be livid.

21

Posted by NAS Keflavik boi , Dec 03, 2008 2:52PM

@ 19 -- I seriously think that "finance media" is largely going to go the way of the television variety show. When the crap is done hitting the fan and all faith is lost in the casino, no one will give frig about "the market" and no one will watch.

30 years ago back when the Dow had been stuck in neutral for 15 years all you had was "Wall Street Week" with that creepy looking Lou Rukuyser dude. And even THAT show was on PBS because no network could get advertisers to finance that fucking snoozefest.

Of course, if we can get Erin Burnet and that big bosomed Cabrera chick to start stripping any time the Indices decline (kind of like that old game show that used to be on RAI-2 back in Italy)they maybe JUST maybe can salvage their "franchise"...

@ 20 -- Bartahomo is hitting the wall -- she's fast approaching the "soup chicken" stage

CNBC needs to trade a commentator to be named later for Keith Olberman from MSNBC immediately.
Olberman is now doing politics on MSNBC and football on NBC so adding finance on CNBC will allow him to destroy all 3 useless channels.

25

Posted by guest , Dec 03, 2008 3:07PM

Have seen MC-C without the padding - they're Bs at best. Headlines and bust lines - CNBC will inflate anything to get ratings.

26

Posted by guest , Dec 03, 2008 3:08PM

Might we be having a slapdown tonight in Time Square? MB is a scrapper alright, but Erin looks like she can pack a fast bitch slap if provoked.

27

Posted by NAS Keflavik boi , Dec 03, 2008 3:11PM

EB has youth and slimness on her side. I'm betting she's got the superior handspeed. If MB starts grappling though it's game over. She'll be all over EB like Gasbagool was all over MB in the backseat of his IROC-Z outside the Golden Dove in Bay Ridge back in the day...

All I know is that I'd love to be holed up in a suite at a Vegas hotel for a weekend with Liz Claman and Caruso-Cabrera and a 5 Gallon tub of whipped cream. We could spend the weekend talking about our own Bailouts.

30

Posted by guest , Dec 03, 2008 3:20PM

and they're running the fake story (about them merging) again and cracking up over the notion of the two being lovers. the only real aspect of this story is that cg is an obvious closet case.

Great scoop, Charlie... they ate AT THE PALM FOR CHRIST SAKE!
What a hack.

All i ask is they don't fire cramer.

He is about the best wrongway indicator the market has.

I also like listening to the people that call into his show. It helps me come to terms with how dumb the general public is and how far we are (in length and depth) from a true bottom.

33

@30 - Charles not a closet case....back off! He's just a Drama Queen, but so is Ratigan

@37 Girls with small titties try harder.

40

Tell us more about the IROC-Z and the Golden Dove in Bay Ridge.....#27....or did you just make that up?

41

Posted by guest , Dec 03, 2008 6:05PM

You have got to know that Maria is a terrfic ad libber and doesn't need a prompter all the time. Maria already is carrying tarnish on her from two or so years ago so she will keep clammed up. She could wind up a partner to Consuelo Mack....eh???? The MB crap has been spread around enough and important people, if they aren't need to be cognizant of it. Oh....by the way Erin can and yet may, kick her ass.

42

Posted by guest , Dec 03, 2008 11:24PM

Mmmmmmmmmm, yummy.

Liz Claman? to each his own, I guess...

But if you dig the older woman thing, I'd take Martha McCallum who CNBC lost to Fox News.
