Credit Suisse IBD Holiday Party: It Is ON

Picture 288.pngNot only that, but they're inviting people who don't even work for them (yet)! Email from head of IBD recruiting, sent to incoming 2009 IBD associate
class:

On December 9th, the Investment Banking Department is hosting its annual holiday party at Chelsea Piers (starting around 7 pm). We would like to invite you to join us if you think you will be in the NY area on that day. I realize that will be tough for many of you between finals and/or travel home for the holidays, but for those of you who can make it, we would love to have you there.
At the event, we will be raising money for The Robin Hood Foundation. Robin Hood fights poverty in New York City by partnering with the best programs to maximize results. For example, to enhance public schools, Robin Hood supports some of the most successful charter schools in NYC. Our fundraising will help Robin Hood open additional opportunities for students in underperforming school districts in Brooklyn and the Bronx. Here is a short video that gives you a real sense of what this is all about.

SERIOUSLY!

How have you all missed their not-so-clever rouse?

Lets go through the simple 3-step logic here:

1. Fire 40% of IB. Freeze hiring.

2. Throw party for remaining...guilt them into donating to charity so you don't have to.

3. Announce how glad you are (in your great benevolence) to invite the (non-existent) new Analyst/Associate class to your great good pr charity event.

19

@21 At least NY gets a party before the slaughter. In London the FID party is 17 Dec, a week after the ax.

Peeps,
I'v attended on of these CS at night at the Piers dealios, trust me peeps, it SUCKS Big Sweaty Balls.

When I attended a bunch of the older MDs were pisssed they had to pay up for the party- yup each group head had to "contribute"- nice eh???

So anyway, these old farts show up, get liquored up and then just start razzing on upper mangmt. Hilarious- those fat rich bastards were plenty pissed, and most of them showed up just to drink and eat some of thier hard earned "contibutions". Which actually explains every fucking thing that is/was wrong with the field of investment banking: the very people who should be aware of a sunk cost, so as to advise their said clients on such costs, didn't even understand the concept for themselves....

28

Posted by guest , Dec 04, 2008 5:27PM

I know its tough times for all you bankers out there, but you think you've got it worse than these kids that IBD is raising funds for at the party; kids who deserve something better than run down classrooms and lousy teachers?
