Plus: what else is significant about this day in history? Hint: like GS, it too is known for being Jew-y. Yes, December 17 marks the day before the Hebrew Hammer‘s birthday. If you haven’t picked something special out already, you have 12 hour to do so, or alternatively may send a check or money order to the Dealbreaker office and we’ll make sure the delivery boy (KG) gets it to him during tonight’s midnight drop-off at 15CPW.

You’ll hear tales from the “public GS” where people you know work, but none from the “inner GS” where the made men will see a slight decrease over last year.
GS maintains the facade of paying above market, but in reality the “non-chosen” analysts, associates, VPs and even MD’s make less than their counterparts. They stay because (a) they’re home-grown and it’s likely the only job they’ve ever had, (b) they drink the “culture” Kool-Aid bullshit or (c) this year, nobody’s quitting anywhere.

heard it was the ugly from some people on the trading and sales desk.
terrible considering how hard we all work this year
and no, just having a job doesnt make it any better…

Investment Banking comp across the board this year should be $0 bonus. Every employee; every group.
When they’re off the government’s life-line, then they can start paying themselves bonuses again.

what’s up w/posts disappearing or being edited away? and yet, there will be countless back and forth banterings of no consequence (and not germane to the topic at heand)for 15 or so posts….
perhaps they are deleted in the middle of the night only to become a “scoop” later the next day?
you tell me, dying to know.

@11- can you start striving for one of your 300 daily comments to marginally funny or in anyway purposeful?

  17. Posted by guest | December 17, 2008 at 12:23 PM

@10 – it’s really about 2 things, are you from the right schools and do you have an offer from somewhere else. If you are in the top of your Ivy Class, you’re halfway there. If you have an offer from another bulge bracket, they’ll figure out a way to send slot you in for Firm Ego purposes.

Why does this page never post hard numbers? Above the law posts hard numbers for lawyer comp.

  23. Posted by guest | December 17, 2008 at 12:31 PM

@24- are you an idiot? search ‘bonus watch’. they post hard numbers all the time.

I’ll always remember the herpes I woke up with after last years ‘hookers and blow bender’ on comp day. I guess this year it’ll be only a callous on my right hand… Maybe I’ll sit on it for a bit during the celebrations so it feels like someone else…. Its a sad day on Broad Street

  32. Posted by guest | December 17, 2008 at 1:16 PM

@33 you people are way overpaying for your hookers & blow, seriously… Don’t fall for any of this ‘dinner date’ b/s either – if your cock isn’t in one of her holes, she’s not earning her pay…
