Please allow this rare moment of sincerity on our parts for me to say, God love ya, Goldman Sachs. Not because the firm is holding a holiday party this year, which it's not. Early reports from well-placed caterer moles were apparently spot-on. GS, like much of its goy brethren, will not be partying this year. But (Jewish) God love 'em because the news, which was broken to employees just before Thanksgiving, doesn't make the Sachsians come off like Hannukah (/Xmas) hating heathens, or worse, like people who are too poor to afford the expense. Apparently the event at which GS'ers congregate during the last month of the year, where it would not be unusual for food and alcoholic beverages to be served, has historically been referred to not as a holiday party, but a "strategy session." This year's not-holiday-party but "strategy session" has been postponed, indefinitely, but "likely some time in 2009."

Something tells me LB's in that cute, little house stoking the fire, bouncing one little Rebekah on his knee. Taking a swig of manishewitz, "Did you know saba chiseled this dreidel from a roll of benjamins? Go on - spin it, nechda."
