Hint: neither of them look as good up close as they do far away. You guys can figure out the first one. The second one is the Paul Tudor Jones Light ShowTM, which we checked out last night on the way to my buddy SC's house for the first night of Hannukah. Video would've captured the thing better but then you would've heard me mouthing off to the cop and we couldn't have that, so photos it is. Re the blurry ones: apparently a 15,000 bulb Christmas spectacular, synced up to Carol of the Bells, which lights from the bottom of the top and proceeds to flash over and over getting progressively brighter, replete with fake snow and a squadron of local police, much to the chagrin of an otherwise staid gated community is all good, but taking pictures of said display? Verboten. No matter. We'll be back next year, provided the tip we dropped in the suggestion box (Vegas show girls as elves) is at least considered.

The other thing visible from space: Steve Cohen and/or his house?
Posted by guest , Dec 22, 2008 2:26PM
@2: Close, but with the ongoing repression of his architectural needs, his house is far too small. It's his ego.
Re: Pictures
How in the bleep can they tell you you can't take pictures from a public street?

Love the "Believe." Classic Vegas, slutty cursive.
Non-sequitur: Ten little indians.

Three things in Greenwich are visible from The Moon. Don't forget about Walter Noel's eyebrows.
Posted by guest , Dec 22, 2008 2:30PM
@3- is it considered public if its a gated community?
Posted by guest , Dec 22, 2008 2:31PM
I can never figure out which spelling it is, Hannukah or (as all those ads in the Times yesterday proclaimed) Chanukah?
And how no comments about the color photos of the pink DB bracelets in the Times yesterday either?

Believe what (or in what), though?
Hmm....
Posted by guest , Dec 22, 2008 2:36PM
Bess - didn't I tell you when I first dropped this to the tip box? It is beyond belief. We have gone twice, and even last Thursday evening - not even a weekend! - there were 20 cars waiting. This is not looked on positively in Belle Haven. Then again, you drove by Diana Ross' house right before you had to bear off to the right to wait near that grass "traffic island" for your turn.

What woman says, "my buddy?"
Posted by guest , Dec 22, 2008 2:41PM
PTJ went all green but uses up more electricity than North Korea, all in the name of southron kitsch.

@10 Rosie O'donnell???
Posted by Anal_yst , Dec 22, 2008 2:44PM
@7
There's an entire variety of spellings, although a few of them tend to be more popular than others, with various uses of "ch" instead of "h" and one "n" vs. two "n's" in the middle.
Posted by guest , Dec 22, 2008 2:46PM
@10- your mom.
Posted by guest , Dec 22, 2008 2:51PM
@10 I thought the same thing.

13 Since you have some expertise... A Jewish friend told me long ago that Hanukkah is not a very important holiday, sort of on par with that ordinary Sunday in the Catholic faith where the priest reads the story of the loaves and fishes (Jesus performs a miracle by making the loaves, fishes and wine multiply, in order to feed the large crowd that has shown up to hear him speak). Any importance that Hanukkah has derives from occuring during the Christmas season. Would you agree?

18 - go to Yahoo Answers for this crap.
Posted by guest , Dec 22, 2008 2:55PM
I agree. "My buddy" just sounds totally wrong. That's not a woman, that's a man, man.
Only question is, has Bess always been a man, or is she just having someone fill in for her over Cchhannnuka?
Posted by guest , Dec 22, 2008 2:56PM
19 Come on - its really slow. Don't be hatin.
Posted by guest , Dec 22, 2008 3:02PM
@18/15/12/10- slow news day here, so tell us what it's like being gigantic tools.
Posted by MarshallStack , Dec 22, 2008 3:03PM
Bess is the woman of my dreams.
Mouthing off to the cops.
Oh I love her so.
Hey Bess - wanna come get thrown out of a concert with me?
Posted by guest , Dec 22, 2008 3:06PM
You've all been had. Bess is a dude. So is EP.
Posted by guest , Dec 22, 2008 3:08PM
@18/15/12/10- obviously you're a little wary after taking home what you thought was a woman the other night until "she" stuck her dick your mouth and, i spite of yourself, you liked it, but use of the word 'buddy' does not a dude make.
it's ok. we won't tell.
Posted by guest , Dec 22, 2008 3:15PM
Seriously, where's the proof of femininity?
Posted by guest , Dec 22, 2008 3:23PM
bess-
house party on north street tonight (come from the post road side, not the merritt). i expect you to bring at least 3 girls and a case of natty. plenty of trust fund wasps to snag- i can set you up.
beirut tourny is strictly optional.

whoops didnt sign in. say i sent you. the password is: fidelio.
Posted by guest , Dec 22, 2008 3:53PM
@6: Probably not. I saw that but the thing about cops threw me. Now I think about it I'm guessing they were hired as private security (cops retain their police powers even when moonlighting, which is definitely in the top twenty reasons why cops suck.)

Bess is a woman, ask Porgy.
EP is a fraud.
Posted by Last Man Standing , Dec 22, 2008 7:58PM
Bess,
you don't have to make excuses why you went by PTJ's house, ie "on my way to friend SC's house to play hide the dreidel." you can just tell everybody you wanted to see the lights.
is it me or is does everyone else also think it is more the jews who have to troll the neighborhood looking at the light displays?
Posted by guest , Dec 23, 2008 8:16AM
The Sound (or the North Shore if you're from Long Island) is in Greenwich and is definitely visible from the Moon.
