Bernie Madoff To Run Free?

In the depths of hell? Maybe! Though it’s become something of a parlor game to try and figure out who exactly will put a successful contract out on his head (Colombians? the Noels? Ruth Madoff?), it turns out Bernie-boy may get the job done himself. Page Six reports that several sources say Madoff may be suffering from pancreatic cancer. It would be distasteful of us to run a poll asking you to democratically determine if this is part 1 of a ‘fake my death‘ scam but if you want to go ahead and let us know what you think, we’re not gonna stand in the way.

Hm…maybe…but if terminal with pancreatic cancer why confess to the scam? Throw up gates, pay bonuses, give the Chanukkah gifts to the kids, then go meet the Maker and let the dopes figure it out themselves…

Jumping out of a plane in auto pilot mode is way cooler !

Doctors can be paid to “modify” a diagnosis can they not?

  4. Posted by guest | January 23, 2009 at 2:02 PM

There is no way that he would be going untreated for pancreatic cancer.
If he DID have it, he would be allowed out to get radiation/surgery/chemo (and then have to go back home immediately).
House arrest cannot interfere with someone’s ability to get life-saving care (or his/her lawyer would sue for relief).
Nice try, but no. Walter Noel trying to claim Alzheimer’s, now Bernie with pancreatic cancer. Next will be DiPascali losing his voicebox and unable to talk.

Let’s see … that’s untreated VD, house arrest and now pancreatic cancer …
Ruth is well on her way to a new single, “50 Billion ways to leave your lover”.

He is starting the PR campaign as a victim. Then I am sure his mental state due to the diagnosis and/drugs will come into play. I say he doesn’t die of this ailment.

There was a Ponzi scheme up here in CT back in the early 1990s. Colonial Realty. One of the three guys that ran it ultimately killed himself. Asphyxiation from a plastic bag over his head. No joke, they still say it was suicide.

Nice try Bernie, but we didn’t fall off the turnip truck yesterday. What’s next – Mad Cow, Ebola? Ruthie, time to wash that man right out of your hair – talk Baby, talk! There is still time to save yourself from going down with this lunatic.

Speaking of credibility, he can be a good assistant to Tim-cheated-tax-return Geithner as Underthetabe Secretary of Treasury!

The “rumor” of him having cancer has been going around since 12/11. From what I’ve heard it’s pretty true, and by confessing he wanted to avoid his family in being caught up in this

He finds out he’s dying, so he has his sons turn him and then snitch him out when he sends packages to get assets out from under the bankruptcy trustee. It’s all been a ploy to save his sons.

So boring to read all the sympathetic comments to Ruth about “washing this man right out of your hair,” etc. Honestly….in a few months’ time, you’re going to read plenty about how old Ruthie was involved, as were his sons, Mark and Andrew, his market maker wunderkind, Josh Stampfli, to say nothing of his niece and her husband, yes…THAT one–the SEC regulator who married little Shana Madoff. And there are others–a brother, a brother-in-law…a veritable C.B. DeMille cast of thousands. May they all burn. Puhleeze…this family is as dirty as they come. 40 years ago, Bernie’s mother was involved in a scam that the SEC caught and forced her out of business. A rattler nest of sociopaths that TOOK MY MONEY….ALL of it. Every penny I’ve ever HAD. Where are the mob hit men when you really need them?

THERE IS MUCH TO BE LEARNED FROM BERNIE MADOFF, don’t give up on this expert.
What if a letter written by Bernie Madoff explaining himself was discovered?

….in his own words? Now get the subpoena requests out.

Oh, no, nobody will be killed over this. Boesky turned Millken over hundreds of millions and nothing happened.
This is the proof that it’s all about status, not the benjamins.

This actually makes far more sense than the other commenters are giving it credit for. Remember, he was not caught, he turned himself in. If he knew he had terminal cancer, he would have to make some decisions. If he were to die, the job of managing the fraud would have been presented to his kids and his friends. It was working so well that it would be difficult for them to look the other way. Then, they would be implicated.
Instead, he could kill the game himself and fall on his sword, claiming to be the only responsible party. His family is now provided for for the rest of their lives, and possibly not implicated. It will be years before a trial, so he will never serve a day in jail. Seems like a pretty good end game strategy to me.
