Bank of Amerillwide CEO Ken Lewis has apparently told the BAC board that neither he nor top execs should get bonuses for this past year. It’s unclear if former Countrywide CEO and current BoA door greeter Angelo Mozilo will be receiving a bunch of coupons to Hollywood Tans, which he’d previously been promised by Mr. Lewis several months back.

@4 it’s not a joke (the story- of course Gupta himself remains one)… cnn, Gupta’s employer, is quoting ‘sources’ that say he’s been approached

Ken Lewis should be getting a pinkslip. Congrats on over-paying for a company that you won’t be running in a few years. Not to mention that you’re going to lose the most valuable part of ML. Ken is barely fit to run a lemonade stand, let alone a financial services behemoth.

I actually kind of like this pick. He is a little on the young side though…
Well, at least he’s not completely whitewashed like a current governor of Louisiana who changed his native name to reflect his admiration for a certain member of the fuckin’ Brady Bunch.
    Pathetic…

who’s going to be done first, kenny boy or the that 1/2 finished building that houses bofa’s investment banking dept on 6th ave? did anyone really think that guy would/could accept a bonus when all of his cronies were taking a pass? the serial acquiror must be stopped, his destruction of shareholder value is matched only by a tiny few (who are still in the business)…

OMG Sanjay Gupta for Surgeon General?!?!? Stop the hate folks. Let’s not act as though the guy isn’t qualified. Emory undergrad and Med school? Performing Brain surgery at the drop of a dime to save kids in Iraq???
Not like he graduated from unheard of school in University Park Texas, never was a judge and got nominated for the Supreme Court (cough, Harriet Miers, cough).
    Cheers B1tches!

It has been reported that President-elect Barack Obama has chosen the respectable, 36 year-old doctor to become the next Surgeon General. There has not been a final decision made, however. Dr. Gupta has served as the chief medical correspondent for CNN for almost a decade. During the Clinton administration, he served as a special adviser to then-first lady Hillary Clinton. He has accomplished many things in his lifetime – from a mountain of education degrees to winning an impressive number of honors and awards for his research accomplishments. This man clearly does not need a payday loan, more so if he takes up the offer to become the nation’s next Surgeon General. http://personalmoneystore.com/moneyblog/2009/01/07/a-certain-tv-doctor-wont-need-payday-loans-for-awhile/
