From the mailbag:

Cuts as high as 50% in some departments, but the good news is that none of the fuckheads who got the company on the rocks are affected. It was all lower-paid, junior employees.
They’re keeping people on for a month or so and giving a max of 10% severance.

Apparently bird sucked into engine, shut down both engines (?? this is what WABC is reporting), pilot made controlled landing.

US Airways flight #1549 (an Airbus A320) from New York, NY (LGA) to Charlotte, NC (CLT) crashed into the Hudson River today (January 15, 2008) around 3:30pm EST, less than six minutes after takeoff. The maximum altitude was 3200 feet before the aircraft began a descent into the water.
Plane appears intact. Helicopters and ferries responding. FAA is reporting all passengers are out of the plane, and a secondary search is underway.
Early unconfirmed reports are that the aircraft hit a flock of geese. CNN reports that a pilot of the airliner reporter a bird strike after takeoff.
    Developing.

GE Capital need to merge with GMAC to survive.

  37. Posted by guest | January 22, 2009 at 11:35 PM

GE Capital is the worlds most successful financial services business. Helping millions of small and mid-market businesses everyday. They are providing bread and butter lending and leasing services, not hidden credit swaps and derivatives. One day the market will finally understand that and the stock will rebound.
