As previously mentioned, both Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley will be conducting an additional round of population restructuring at their respective firms in the near (ca. April) and very near future (ca. February). The Journal pegs the reduction in workforce in the House of Mack at about 5 percent, and also describes the the expected bloodletting as merely under "consideration."

RBS London will be doing layoffs in next 2 weeks. If you can believe it, there have been NONE there to date. Greenwich Capital has had at least 3 rounds (so much easier to have the colonies suffer); bonuses get paid out first week of March so layoffs must be done before that.
Speaking for the colonies - it's about GD time. You idiots were the ones who bought ABN Amro, which torpedoed us here in the States. Your entire credit area told you it was a dumba** idea. Thanks for overriding us!

Does anyone know how Jared from Subway has fared thoughout the financial crisis? I haven't seen him on any commercials lately. All I ever see are fat people singing about 5 subs for 5 dollars.

So I'm on board with the MS layoffs - they're obviously going to happen. But at this point GS is just rumors. DB is hardly wrong on this stuff, but they did say something was going to happen this week and nothing did. So are we really going to see April layoffs for GS? I'm still not convinced.

I'm at Goldman and they are making more layoffs tomorrow, though it's likely the usual bottom 5% they do every Feb.
