No Target Too Small For Madoff And Friends

Picture 501.pngWhen you hang for any extended amount of time with Bernie Madoff, he and his investing ideas rub off on you. For example, Frank Avellino, who’s been chilling with Mades since around 1962. Unlike the snobbish Ponz. master, however, who won’t even think about ripping you off unless he finds evidence of a few million in the bank and the cash on hand to post bail, should it ever be necessary, Avellino is man of the people. That’s why he (maybe) screwed his cleaning woman, Nevena Ivanova, out of $124,000, after convincing her to invest her money in the fictitious Kenn Jordan Associates. This is what it’s about, my friends. Keeping it real.

    Kenn Jordan, the famous Hall-of Fame basketball player formerly of the Chicago Bulls? That’s going to shock the members at tonight’s “HBS Monthly Mixer” at Tenjune.

    love the precautionary parenthetical “maybe” in this post. As your lawyer, I applaud your attention to potential liability.

    @1,
    I’ll tell you what’s not too small. Trish Regan’s rack. Looks great this morning in that sweater. Definitely worth a JO&C.

    nice work on the Madoff story.
    Here is one angle on this fascinating (horrifying?) saga which has yet to be covered;
    Michael Bienes along with his partner in crime, Frank Avellino, has enriched himself by funneling money to Madoff for over 35 years. They both started out as accountants working with Bernie’s father in law back in the 60s. There is evidence to suggest Bienes’ relationship with Madoff never ceased after the 1992 SEC investigation in which he was sanctioned for selling unregistered securities which were funneled directly to Madoff and that he has merely moved his operations overseas to London where he and his social climbing wife have stormed the gates of polite philanthropic society. Recent reports also suggest that Frank Avellino has set up a sham investment fund through which he has also been funneling money to Madoff.

    @12, yes, the plot thickens
    Ira Sorkin, Madoffs current counsel, represented Avellino and Bienes in their 1992 SEC investigation.

    if her money was not stolen she would have bought a house she could not afford and defaulted anyway, so what’s the difference?

  15. Posted by guest | January 6, 2009 at 2:00 PM

    15, you didn’t need money to buy a house.

    @17 and @18
    Avellino penniless? that miserable thieving cocksucker has a home at 655 Park Ave, an Oceanfront estate in Nantucket and a Palm Beach palazzo. He and his partner Bienes are both living like Maharajahs off the Madoff Ponzi

Bienes and Avellino continue to do business under the name Mayfair Bookeeping Associates in Ft Lauderdale. Hmmm. Madoff has an office in Mayfair, London where he funnels hundreds of millions of Ponzi money into his dynastic piggy bank
