Remember all that noise, delivered with practiced and indignant huff, about lobby rules? About the hiring of former lobbyists, and how that was a bad thing(tm) and would in no way be permitted in the new administration. Yeah, well, not so much.
It seems the boyish charm Banker in our big Monopoly game, Tim Geithner, wants to hire an old acquaintance who is a former lobbyist for Goldman Sachs.
We expect he will get his way. I mean its not as serious as paying your taxes or anything, and that (along with penalties and interest) is the sort of thing that’s obviously to inconvenient to bother with when there is important work to be done.

Geithner is a bad choice because he’s the banker’s choice to hold that position. He’s also going to be one of the first to be fired from the cabinet. Unless he can pull a miracle. We are so fucked it’s not funny.
And GWB’s government was transparent? Anyone that thought that a change of guard makes a difference is an idiot. The disease runs far too deep.
No surprise at all that a GS Operative will be placed in the administration. They are so deeply embedded, Obama’s about to get sucker-punched by these “appointments”
I thought that Geithner was a good pick given his credentials, but I now recognize that I was wrong. His character couldn’t be more corrupt. I cannot believe the nerve of this guy. He suffers a congressional inquest regarding his taxes, and now he wants this position appointment. Obama screwed up on this one. This guy may end up being the bane of his presdiential legacy…
So what have we learned in 2 millennia?
“The budget should be balanced, the Treasury should be refilled, public debt should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be tempered and controlled, and the assistance to foreign lands should be curtailed lest Rome become bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance.”
- Cicero – 55 BC
Evidently nothing…
reminds me of when Spitzi took over in Albany “Day One, everything changes”
Yeah, and day TWO, everything changed right back.
These tools would be very amusing but for the fact that they will continue to fux0r the economy. “Gee – we’re in trouble on account of all this overleverage–say, why don’t we throw EVEN MORE borrowed money at all the morons, yeah, yeah, THAT’S the ticket!”

That’s a fictional quote. Rome offering assistance to foreign lands? You got to be kidding.
Here’s the scoop:
In a letter to The Chicago Tribune (20 April 1971), John H. Collins, Professor of History at Northern Illinois University, reported that the following attribution to Cicero,
Quote:
The budget should be balanced, the treasury should be refilled, public debt should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be tempered and controlled, assistance to foreign lands should be curtailed lest Rome become bankrupt. The mobs should be forced to work and not depend on government for subsistence.
actually originated in A Pillar of Iron (1965), Taylor Caldwell’s fictionalized account of the life of the senator. (In fact, Collins noted that it was on page 483 of the edition he had in hand.)
Collins held that the alleged quotation “is totally without documentation,” and that “the great bulk of [Caldwell's] quotations are false.” He further observed that “[a] historical novelist has a perfect right to put invented conversations and anecdotes into a novel, but should not represent these inventions as authentic history.”

Damn! I guess there is no truth in the fictitious quote.
Attribution aside …
Change We Need…Yup from GOP Goldman Sachs to Democrat Goldman Sachs..Obama was put up there by the powers that be..he has no say.
what I’ve learned and what Obama teaches our country is okey to fuck up i.e evading tax payment like Geithner and still you be the Tax man of the country as in Secretary of Treasury.
Obama was against lobbyists in his government but it’s okey if his boy toy Geither would appoint one as assistant.
He can also do the following:
Madoff as new SEC Chairman.
Blago of IL. as Democratic Party President.
One Gitmo detainee as CIA Asst. Director
release Jose Padilla and be the new Director for Homeland Security.
All’s well that ends well. It’s only 4 years so no problem!
