Welcome, Andrew Cuomo

Charlie Gasparino reports that Attorney General Andrew Cuomo has subpoenaed John Thain and BAC chief administrative officer Steel Alphin for testimony, to find out “what they knew and when they knew it.” He can start here.

@2 – Does this mean we can expect him to be caught in a high-end prostitution scandal in 3-5 years?

Since he doesn’t get to fill out Hillary’s term, Cuomo needs to raise his profile so he can grab the seat next election.
It’s going to be a nasty year for finance executives and Cuomo trots them out on the perp walks…

@2,3 You two are clowns. These CEOs should be in prison for what they’ve done to:
    1. The Country
    2. Their companies
    3. Their shareholders
    4. Their bondholders
    5. The American People
    and last but not least….
    6. Their Mommas!

This is no surprise given his diarrhea of the mouth on CNBC yesterday.
Can they take down Cuomo? I thought he was a made man?

@10- bull shit. you had no idea who steel was yesterday.

There’s no bigger phony than Cuomo, not even his father.

  13. Posted by guest | January 27, 2009 at 11:49 AM

Why do people keep making allusions to his time in the cabinet?

John Thain’s interview with Maria was one of the least successful attempts to cover-up a Wall Street scam since Joe Jett appeared on “60 Minutes” to defend his Kidder-Peabody treasury strips trading strategy.

Isn’t Cuomo married to Kerry Kennedy.

@7: Yes, it is the banks fault that you bought a house that you couldn’t afford.
Or maybe it is their fault that the Fed lowered the Fed Funds Rate down to 1% and kept it there for way too long.
Or maybe it is their fault that congress created FRE and FNM.
    Right…

@17, long over – get current. Thats what made the irony of Caroline Kennedy’s potential appointment so interesting. Stay in school.

18 Putting aside for a minute who’s to blame for all this – granting of mortgages to people who couldnt affort them, creation of fan and fred, 1% rates – you must admit that it was all a gold mine for years for the financial services industry. Issuing mortgages, packaging and selling bonds, on and on. So maybe the industry is not so innocent after all.

Put John Thain in jail and let him decorate it with his own monwy!
But before that get the tax payers money back from those lazy ass greedy bankers. They are so self centered that don’t realize they are working for a insolvent firm and the only reason Gov. keeps them as a zombie is for public interest. Shame on them. Shame.
Thain has to go to jail or this is nothing but a show…

  23. Posted by guest | January 27, 2009 at 12:35 PM

    @21, 18 here.
You can spread the blame all over the place. But only blaming the banks for our current situation isn’t accurate.

Finally saw the Slap Chop commercial this weekend– very dissapointed to find out that this device does not involve pork chops, lamb chops, etc.
Just imagine what could be acheived if Vince and Ron Popeil combined forces.

Thain should be waterboarded and then have his eyes burnt out of his head with a red-hot fireplace poker. Strap him down to a chair next to Charging Bull and let the bankers have at him. In other words, get medieval on his ass.
