Thain’s walking away compensation should be in the form of parchment waste paper baskets and “commode with legs.”

Fuld should get some new f’in lawyers, like ones that know that “fraudulent conveyance” and “buying a mansion for $100″ are pretty much equivalent. Damn, these Masters of the Universe are stoopid. You can get better advice off of the Interwebs:

    SNIP from latest piece:
“So, talk to YOUR KIDS tonight and ask their permision to give another $35 BILLION of THEIR MONEY away to Fraudie Mac. Oh, and start laying the groundwork for the big talk with them. No, not the one about sex and drugs. The one about Phoney Mae needing $100 BILLION pretty soon. Let me what they say, and then will let Obama and Geithner know whether they may have OUR CHILDREN’S FUTURE.”

borrowing $2 trillion this year.then $2 trillion next year.debt will be $15 trillion at the end of 2010.
debt was less than $1 trillion until 1994 i think.maybe you should think.
go here.then keep your mouth shut.

@7 Chances of it being resolved within a year close to 0.
Florida home ownership laws very favorable to debtor.
I think it was a smart, educated move. Don’t even think the $100 was necessary.

Dick Fuld took down a little boutique, which is a Wall Street story. If you were a LEH shareholder, tough shit. You should have sold.
He did not take 50bn in taxpayer capital, under the pretense that his firm was “important”. Nobody on Wall Street is actually important. It’s like a toll booth operator claiming the highways will shutdown if his stoop is ripped up.
Even if he wanted to, and Skeletor wouldn’t give it to him, one way or another he was a hell of a lot less a burden than Mack, Blankfein, and Thain turned out to be.

  14. Posted by guest | January 24, 2009 at 10:19 AM

@13 – you are a moron. LEH’s bankruptcy screwed more people than shareholders. It also screwed counterparties and customers which led to a lot more pain and uncertainty.
Yes, a lot of banks were in trouble no matter what, but Lehman going down made the whole crisis worse – freezing the credit markets and worsening both the financial system and the economy.
Who knows – if the corporate money markets hadn’t been completely fucked, maybe we would have gotten out of this with fewer layoffs and less taxpayer money.
THAT is why Paulson was a jackass. It would have cost a lot less to wind Lehman down in the first place.
The only way cosmic justice could be served is if Paulson’s “blind trust” were fully invested in Lehman paper.

@14: Ah yes, the piteous counterparties. Here’s a news flash: loaning money to insolvent companies can mean you’ll have to fight for it in bankruptcy. Since the counterparties mispriced counterparty risk, everyone should pay! That’s the ‘meriken way.

@12, Florida is good, that is true, but, if I remember correctly, Florida’s vaunted protections only apply to one’s “homestead.” If that is the case, then why not sell the CT place, move down there, and keep your name on the property. I still think this guy is being too clever by half. Hopefully his wife wakes up and slaps some divorce proceedings on him once all of their property is in her name.

@TOGFD- i happened to see the comment of yours that got deleted, in which you claimed to know that shoshanna was bad in bed. pretty sure bess deleting it was the equivalent of this convo:
Bus Driver (TOGFD): That Veronica Vaughn (Shoshanna) is one piece of ass, I know from experience dude. If you know what I mean.
Billy Madison (DB): No, you don’t.
Bus Driver (TOGFD): Well, not me personally but a guy I know. Him and her *got it on*. Wooo-eee!
Billy Madison (DB): No, they didn’t.
Bus Driver (TOGFD): No, no, no they didn’t. But you could imagine what it’d be like if they did, right…? Everybody on, good, great, grand, wonderful.

Bus Driver (TOGFD): No yelling on the bus!

After taxes, Thain’s $1.5MM going away present won’t cover his $1.2MM bill for the office decor.
