Darren Rovell would like to know if it is "awkward" that golfer Vijay Singh, who signed a sponsorship deal with Stanford Financial last month, will continue endorse the company, now that it's been accused of perpetrating massive fraud. The answer is no, D. Rov, it's not. Was it "awkward" when the canasta player sponsored by Madoff Securities continued to wear his MadSec visor after Bernie found himself in some hot water? Was it "awkward" when Hank Paulson's lackey continued to proudly tell people he used BaldTM brand turtle wax on his pate after the Treasury Secretary was savaged by the press? Was it "awkward" when, given the choice of switching to generic hormone pills or sticking with Ping Dings, Ping Jiang's SAC Capital portfolio team stood by its wo/man, and went with the latter? Was it "awkward" when I continued to wear my Bills jersey to sleep, after OJ was accused of savagely murdering his ex-wife and lover? No, sir. That's called loyalty. Then, more than ever, the Juice needed to know we had his back, and we're absolutely delighted to see Singh stick by his fraudy friend in the same way.

Is that really all you have? Stories about what's on television? Does it never occur to you that if your horizons are as long as a camera shot on CNBC, you are just as much of a problem as the fuckers who stole peoples money or borrowed money they didnt have? You people and your CNBC world are the reason it will take years to kill this market and get America to learn its lesson. And, no, Im not anti American.
Posted by guest , Feb 18, 2009 1:45PM
"You people and your CNBC world"
bahahah. okay, now, seriously, jump off a bridge.
"And, no, Im not anti American. "

Bess,
Jump on this one, fast.
New York to Spend $45 Million to Retrain Laid-Off Wall Streeters
" The Economic Development Corporation plans to put $3 million into funds that would make small investments in startup companies, Mr. Pinsky said. He said that he hoped to attract twice as much money from private investors and that $9 million would be enough to help start hundreds of new businesses.
All told, city officials plan to spend about $15 million on the program, in addition to the $30 million of federal money. They estimate that over 10 years, it could stimulate the creation of at least 25,000 jobs and contribute $750 million to the local economy. "

Am I racist if I am short Singh and long Rod Pampers?
Posted by guest , Feb 18, 2009 1:51PM
Jesus at the racism calls.
Every single time someone gets their panties in a wad here now its because the other person is 'clearly a racist'.
Think up a new comeback please.

Good afternoon, everyone! Its JEFFERIES, BITCHES!!

1. Vijay did get caught cheating on the European Tour a while back. He went into seclusion for a number of years.
2. Having said the above, I believe that Villegas and David Toms are on Stanford's payroll as well. Granted, neither are as high up on the world rankings, Villegas is climbing though, nor have won as many majors, Vijay's 3 to Toms' 1 to Villegas' 0, but they are getting paid by Sir Allan, too.
3. Yeah, #2 has the best comment of the day, so far. Brilliant, even though Singh is Fijian.

you suckers are so transparent.

#16 - Google "Vijay Singh and cheating" and learn about this guy's shitty ethics before you toss around "racism".
Your 'obvious' knee-jerk stupidity speaks for itself.

Racists are cheaters, too.
Posted by guest , Feb 18, 2009 2:10PM
#28 - Vijay got caught cheating in 1985 at an event in Jakarta on the South Asian Tour - not the European - but "Once a cheater, always a cheater"
Posted by Lowly Assistant , Feb 18, 2009 2:11PM
I think they're just joshin' you, 35. After EP was called a racist yesterday, pointing fingers (friendly fire) is all the rage (see: sardonic humor).

@19. Nice link. New York City is overpriced, overcrowded, and too expensive for entrepreneurs to start up. I'm sure the $45M will get one bright idea from thousands, but to expect it to revitalize New York City like the financial industry did-good luck! Go west (or south) young man.
Posted by Investorcluzo , Feb 18, 2009 2:21PM
@32, 34 and 39 - you are not @30, go back to the yahoo boards with your nonsense...you too @40

What about @42?

I got a chuckle out of this part of the latimes.com article on this:
Stanford Group is regulated and audited by the Financial Services Regulatory Commission of Antigua & Barbuda. Commission Chairman Leroy King told Reuters news service Tuesday that he hadn't initiated any special probe of Stanford's operations because the commission hadn't received any complaints from island citizens.
"We have no credible information coming to us to say that they are not sound," King said.
