so, I’m watching “american greed” about the pikers from mer/gs who profited from insider trading. now I’m thinking to myself, what’s worse: these chimps profiting from trades using their own money or madoff/stanford/nagel et al ripping off billions of other peoples’ money? seems to me that the sec is being penny wise and pound foolish. just sayin’…

if he was really laundering mexican gang money, he’s not going to be found. either he is VERY well hidden and having a nice margarita somewhere or he’s buried in a shallow grave in the jungle. one way or the other, the gulf cartel is not going to let him go to trial in the US and open his yap about “how it all worked”.

The SEC’s fraud charges may be the least of accused financial scammer R. Allen Stanford’s worries. Federal authorities tell ABC News that the FBI and others have been investigating whether Stanford was involved in laundering drug money for Mexico’s notorious Gulf Cartel.
Allen Stanford disappeared after being accused of a massive $8Billion scam.Watch the full story tonight on World News with Charles Gibson at 6:30 p.m. ET.
Authorities tell ABC News that as part of the investigation, which has been ongoing since last year, Mexican authorities detained one of Stanford’s private planes. According to officials, checks found inside the plane were believed to be connected to the Gulf cartel, reputed to be Mexico’s most violent gang. Authorities say Stanford could potentially face criminal charges of money laundering and bribery of foreign officials.
Authorities say the SEC action against Stanford Tuesday may have complicated the federal drug investigation.
The federal investigation, however, did not stop Stanford from using corporate money to become a big man at last year’s Democratic convention in Denver.

@5- except for the fact that 1) Stanford has blocked people from tracking the carriers’ whereabouts on flight aware and 2) he didnt necessarily use a jet registered to stanford (one reason being that’d be a bit obvious?)
