From the mailbag:
BAC is [supposedly] asking the 22 BAC employees that were traveling on biz down to Charlotte when their US Air flight went down into the Hudson River to repay the ticket price that US Air is refunding to them. Are you kidding me?!?! So, go down in a plane on biz and you owe your firm the $450 ticket refund check. Nice to know.
Hey that goes right to the bottom line! Shareholders (and taxpayers) are due that money!
And if you grabbed any packets of peanuts on the way out, well, those are ours too!
Even if this is total BS, it’s safe to say that this is the signal to short BAC to zero.
Ken Lewis will have none of that ‘touchy feely’ claptrap. This is capitalism!
If you were on the wing and got rescued without getting wet, you owe the $450. If you got wet up to your waist, it’s $350, the extra $100 is for the dry-cleaning bill.
What about the $5,000 checks everyone got for their luggage, does the Bank Of Vultures want a piece of that too??
@7: that was only if you agreed not to sue.
If you sue and get more than $5,000, you must hand over the money to BAC. But it’s all good – in exchange for the cash you get restricted stock and deferred cash, subject to clawback if any part of the firm loses money over the next 5 years, or if John Thain’s commode fails to sell.
Ken is right; get it while you can! Or before US Air goes under! No pun intended…
BAC is stupid the employees can actually sue BAC becaue they were flying on company business and they are libel for anything that happens during that time. Not too bright to ask for reimbusment, since now some of them may just talk to lawyers instead.
@10: Stopped reading @ “libel.”
probably making them fill out a T&E anyway. No way they are going after them for the $. I flew in late Dec, haven’t even gotten a nasty email about getting my expense report in yet. Total BS.
Someone has to pay for Ken’s jet, right?
@11 Seconded
BAC should get their PR people on this one now.
And if they didn’t show up for work the next day beecause they were stuck in NY, they probably got charged for a vacation day.
@11
Be kind.
Even some of the professionals don’t know the difference between capital and capitol, principle and principal, peace and piss.
Those BAC guys were originally sent on a mission to NY to claw back Thain’s commode from World Trade Center. Rumor has it that it went down in the Hudson, no word on the insurance yet.
If I learned anything from watching Gossip Girl last night, it’s that internet rumors are mean.
Nice touch with the geese.
@19 – And that UES high schoolers have the most dedicated maids ever.
Good news for OBP employees. The recent snow has filled the water tanks on the roof and OBP employees below MD will be allowed one bowel movement a week. MD and above get two, two dueces. You are still encouraged to reduce fiber intake and PAT or “poop at home”. Again, for you real go getters, strap on Depends to show you boss that you are too busy to take potty breaks and are willing to take one (or should I say take a #2) in your underpants for the team.
Remember, as always, if its yellow let it mellow. If its brown, flush it down but only if you are under your weekly quota.
Luv ya,
Kenny Boy at BAr
All my single kitties. meow meow meow.
God if this were true BAC will replace Enron on my most despised corporation list of all time.
@10 – wow, you’re dumb.
(Or as you might say – “Wow, your dum.”)
@25: Hi Steel
i am one of those 22, please stop these shit rumour mongering. There is a civil limit to poking fun
i am one of those 22, please stop these shit rumour mongering. There is a civil limit to poking fun
@27 – the object of “these shit rumour mongering” is the corporate devil that is BAC, most certainly not those who suffered a terrifying experience.
As just one of the many who have been burnt by BofA over the years, there is no limit to their shittiness.
This is the best PR disaster since Coke Classic!
You can’t make this shit up.
@30 – yes, you can and someone probably did. Take your pick from the pile of people who bagged a donut in the last week.
But everyone knows that it just COULD be true and that’s what counts here.
@ 10, no they cannot sue BofA under such grounds. Purchasing a plane ticket for their employees would not make them, “libel.”
Go take Torts, again, or for the first time, actually.
@31- it’s been going around the BAC floor for the last couple hours.
#8 : doyou get Spirit points for that?
Typica BAC move. Pathetic!
The true story about BAC and employees on the US Air flight is that by the time employees were off the ferries BAC had cars waiting to take them to hotels where they were provided everything they needed. The following morning corporate jets were dispatched to Tetterboro to fly them to Charlotte.
BAC has gone the extra mile to insure each of these employees is taken care of.
It makes for some awesome corporate hatred but there’s no way its true. In my firm travel books the tickets and I show up to the flight. Its not like I lay the funds out on my credit card. How would US Air know who to send the rebate check to?
Do you saps at BAC have to outlay your flight expenses on personal CCs?
@33 – “I fucked your Mum/Dad/dog/sofa.”
True that and, furthermore, now everyone knows it’s true.
Of course, I want the BAC rumor to be true but note how Bess inserted [supposedly] into her report…
@38- perhaps that’s because bess is expressing her skepticism, which doesn’t change what was tipped to her?
@37- “at my firm.” which is not BAC. so no one gives a fuck, for the purposes of post.
@ 37, at most firms, you do lay it out on your corporate card, which is in YOUR name. dumbass
@36- Nice gesture. How long until they receive the bill? Or will you just do payroll deductions?
@10….you’re awesome, keep up the good work.
@36 Do you think they did all that out of the kindness of their heart or because the crash was costing them a day of work and needed the employees in the office ASAP? No time to waste.
i have a supposition i would like to insert into Bess’s report.
@36 Were those cars and corporate jets permitted under the TARP provisions??
The person who I knew who was among the 22 said they took a commerical flight out of LaGuardia later that night. No corporate jet out of Tetterboro.
this one is very silly & naive to even read

@47,48,49… it’s true, they sent a letter saying that since they were reimbursed by usair, they have to reimburse the company…
so in summary, Kill yourself
unfortunately, bofa can’t comment because they are blocked from reading blog sites…I wonder if the folks got reimbursed for taking a cab before 10pm – heaven forbid if they got taken to the jersey side of the river, that bill would be steep (esp. with the $8 toll). it’s a race to the bottom, bac is in second with a market cap of $28 bn and c is leading at $18 bn (why is wells trading at 2.8x bac market cap?).
They absolutely can sue BOA. The issue here is whether the employees will recover.
Clippers
@47-49- Steel: Notes to self. 1) Hit “Post Comment” only once; 2) 4:39-4:41 posts means I am late for 1/2 price scotch; 3) 70% premium for insolvent firm so as to not “tarnish the brand”, acceleration of ML bonuses into December while claiming nothing could be done as acting CFO, not renegotiating purchase price in the name of patriotic duty, not looking at easily accessible ML daily P&L in December all equally “silly and naive”
Com’on, Bess, you can do better than this. So obviously untrue. What really surprises me is how many people in the comments here are actually taking this seriously! Ha!
BAC PR@56- putting in overtime, eh?
@57 – yeah, they had to wait until they got home to access the site. IT guys blocked the blogs at the office…
BAC has corporate cards. Would get reimbursed on the card, just like any other cancelled flight. Non story here. What a waste of people’s time…
They should give it back. The company paid for the flight and didn’t get the benefit of it. You Americans are getting soft with all your bailouts!
For the record, DB is not blocked at OBP (this is proof, 4th floor). So BAC employees can in fact comment on any article they see here…
Love to test commenting
Sadly, this story has some truth to it. I thought it was total B.S. until I spoke to one of the 22…
