Subject: Will You Help Me With My Next Film? …a request from Michael Moore
February 11, 2009
Friends,
I am in the middle of shooting my next movie and I am looking for a few brave people who work on Wall Street or in the financial industry to come forward and share with me what they know. Based on those who have already contacted me, I believe there are a number of you who know “the real deal” about the abuses that have been happening. You have information that the American people need to hear. I am humbly asking you for a moment of courage, to be a hero and help me expose the biggest swindle in American history.
All correspondence with me will be kept confidential. Your identity will be protected and you will decide to what extent you wish to participate in telling the greatest crime story ever told.
The important thing here is for you to step up as an American and do your duty of shedding some light on this financial collapse. A few good people have already come forward, which leads me to believe there are many more of you out there who know what’s going on. Here’s your chance to let your fellow citizens in on the truth.
If you have any info that would help, please contact me at my private email address: bailout@michaelmoore.com.
For the rest of you on my email list who don’t work in the financial industry, you’re probably wondering, “What the heck is this all about? I thought he said he was making a romantic comedy!”
Well, I just can’t say much right now. I’m sure you can understand why. One thing I can tell you is that you’re gonna like this movie when I’m done with it. Oh, yeah…
So, again, if you work for a bank, a brokerage firm or an insurance company — or if you have seen things or heard things that you believe the American people have a right to know — please contact me at bailout@michaelmoore.com.
Thank you in advance for your help!
Yours,
Michael Moore

Mike, get a real job.
Mike, get a real job. Scab.
I smell a big role for that stupid douche Maxine Waters.
oh jeez, this is gonna be fair and balanced indeed.
This is going to be good. Love or hate the guy he knows how to docu-hate
Who knows more than Bess?
Bess on the big screen…pleeasse.
Another person who should go to an island and never come back
Michael Moore is brimming over with self hatred. Sure, who wouldn’t want some of that?
I just pre-ordered my tickets online.
Another person who should go to an island and never come back
This is awesome. I hope all those ‘progressive’ NY bankers who ponied up cash for ‘Change’ © and simply loved the truthfulness of Farenheit 9/11, Sicko, Columbine.. oh and ‘The Inconvenient Truth’ have bad things done to them once the masses get riled up with this ‘true’ movie and head out with their pitchforks.
Funny. All the vocal ‘progressives’ on this board seem to have lost their voice all of a sudden! Where are you people? The ‘Change’ © you wanted is here!
Blaming the banks for the economic crisis is like Michael Moore blaming a fork for making him fat.
fattie should hit the gym although i’m hoping all that fat clogs his arteries and he drops dead.
Mike,
why don’t you film one of your videos about union corruption?
Well actually when you think about it a movie how a bunch of spreadsheet monkeys brought down the western economy could be a comedy….
he will go to hell. i have confidence in that.
The odds for casting
Maria 3:1
Bernie 1:1
Gaspo 5:1
Bush 1:1
Jesus 20:1
A disgruntled Rabbi 3:2
Bar Refaeli (PLEASE)
Bess (off)
Timmay Sykes 10:1
Jordan Belfort 50:1
and…(insert cast here)
Oh, yes, this will surely present a fair and unbiased viewpoint, just like Fox News, fair and balanced indeed…
We’ll tell you anything you want fatboy……just don’t take off your shirt….I’ll even lend you my Dean Witter Municipals Desk ballcap for the shoot, for your convenience the mustard stains are already on it
I hope he interviews one of the Lehman guys while at a strip club.
Mike: How has your life changed since Lehman blew you out?
Lehman Guy: You want to what?
Didn’t he live in Detroit when the auto manufacturers started having problems? Remind me when he moved to NY? Odd coincidence or cause/effect? Someone should make a documentary on this and expose the truth.
I wonder if Mike is going to interview the reckless people who lived above their means? Bought 4 cars, flat screen TVs, IPODs, 10 credit cards, homes they couldn’t afford? While we’re at it, throw in student loans, health care bills, etc for people who couldn’t afford to pay with cash? If we’re going to go down this road Mike, all of the above are luxuries!!!
Nothing is God given. I know you’re out there! Brought to you by the…ownership society. I’ve never seen a greater oxymoron.
Or moron?
It’s not a payphone…. it’s a Portable Phone!!!
Tubby – I will tell you everything you need to know so long as you agree to the following:
1. 25% of the gross goes towards the college fund of out of work NY strippers.
2. You promise to show a 10 second, full-frontal of the first lady.
3. You and Tim Sykes agree to fight to the death.
I hate his holier-than-thou attitude. Yes, we’re all crooks. We steal as much as we can legally and then we make some more money by bending/circumventing laws, but the real money is made by flat-out abandoning any moral, legal or humanitarian scruples. It’s been that way since the Sumerians and that way it will stay.
I wonder if he’ll come after the journalists, and not just the CNBC-types like Gasbagarino and Cramer, but the Sorkins and Bethany Mcleans of the world.
Are you DB guys deleting duplicate comments now? Good for you. But seriously, get some better hosting, please? And what’s this Fashionista website who you appear to be co-habiting with?
Mike, I’ll be happy to get on camera. I’d love to ‘out’ all the dirtbags I’ve had to deal with in my career.
too fat, didn’t need to eat moore
12 and 23. Both beyond correct. Maybe he should direct/co star in true life: I am a fat slob depression case making money off of other fat slob depression cases.
Michael Moore is my hero!
We’re all just one trade away from humility Budd…
@28- “And what’s this Fashionista website who you appear to be co-habiting with?”
Dealbreaker is owned by Breaking Media, which also owns Fashionista, Above the Law, and Edifical.
@13-comment of the year
interview Barney Frank, he is the real scum that created this mess.
can’t trust anyone with a BMI > IQ
what a fat cock sucker, like MER people
Moore’s films, while he pisses so many off, only reveal the secret agendas and often times the truths that others choose to ignore or don’t know any better.
A doc about the finance industry should be pretty good. The only problem is he’ll probably focus on the subprime mess, and the rest of the world will think that encompasses Wall Street (largely ignoring Corp Fin, Research, Wealth Management, etc.)
MM is a propaganda genius. He makes the USSR commies look like comic book writers.
That ugly motherfucker has lied, cheated and stolen his way to whatever “fame” he possesses. I would trust a promise of confidentiality from him about as much as I would one from Perez Hilton. Don’t do it, kids. It would be better to go to Rolling Stone like Charlie in “Firestarter” that to trust that maggot any further than you could throw him.
No doubt there are a lot of contributors to this fiasco who could be outed in a documentary (paging Franklin Raines). But Moore, due to his inability to get beyond his politics, will turn this into an anti-capitalism, “see, stuff like this never happens in North Korea” movie.
@39: Gettelfinger, get off Dealbreaker and go back to spoon-feeding your constituency who porked out on home equity loans and flat screens.
I also hope he includes a lot of fraudsters in the mortgage brokerage business who were in bed with real estate agents. The possibilities are endless. A broader perspective is called for in describing this mess.
Moore can smell this a mile away. Just like a pig. A capitalist pig (dude makes bank off of these movies).
damn,
i forgot how fucking huge Gekkos cell phone v1.0 was!
And what’s great is, if he gets no one to respond, he’ll say it’s a big Wall Street cabal.
Go interview Barney Frank in his “you don’t lend enough to people who can’t afford it”, then maybe Frank Raines, but who you REALLY need to talk to are everyone who took out and defaulted on “liar loans” (that would be the borrower lying, not the bank) and negative amortization loans. See what they spent the money on. My guess it wasn’t for saving orphans.
Michael, I am sure you will do a great job at showing one side of this story.
Many (but certainly not most) of us on Wall Street and Main Street went a bit overboard this last go-around. A bit like you do every time you sit down to eat a meal.
So… I’m the only one who kinda looks forward to this? It’ll be entertaining, that much I know.
Do you think he’ll look into Fannie and Freddie’s role in the credit “swindle”? Or is this just a Wall Street thing? People with knowledge of wrongdoing should come forward and speak, but please don’t help this propagandist personally profit off the crisis.
@41- how has he cheated?
I’m sure that fat prick will do the same excellent propaganda job he always does. I can’t wait not to see it.
HA HA
HE’S FAT!!!
How original.
The fat fuck is about to expose all of the talentless Ivy educated and/or Jew leeches who got us into this mess.
I wonder if Mike is going to interview the reckless people who lived above their means? Bought 4 cars, flat screen TVs, IPODs, 10 credit cards, homes they couldn’t afford?
Of course he will interview these victims of Wall Street Greed and Predatory Lending.
Fat Mike would never let the truth get in the way of a good story. Pass the gravy.
Fat Mike would never let the truth get in the way of a good story. Pass the gravy.
Hey do you think the ump that got spat on by Robbie Alomar is getting tested?
Michael Moore is so fat that when his domestic partner comes home from buying groceries he has to hire a rodeo clown to distract him. True story…
Any bonus bucks, Michael?
Congress, Mr. Cromwell, has 535 different idiots each earning over 200 thousand dollars a year. Now, I have spent the last two months analyzing what all these guys do, and I still can’t figure it out. One thing I do know is that our Congress will lose billions over the next year, and I’ll bet that half of that was spent in all the paperwork going back and forth between all these Congressmen. The new law of evolution in corporate America seems to be survival of the unfittest. Well, in my book you either do it right or you get eliminated. In the last seven deals that I’ve been involved with, there were 2.5 million stockholders who have made a pretax profit of 12 billion dollars. Thank you. I am not a destroyer of companies. I am a liberator of them! The point is, ladies and gentleman, that greed, for lack of a better word, is good. Greed is right, greed works. Greed clarifies, cuts through, and captures the essence of the evolutionary spirit. Greed, in all of its forms; greed for life, for money, for love, knowledge has marked the upward surge of mankind. And greed, you mark my words, will not only save the US, but that other malfunctioning corporation called the USA. Thank you very much.
Your not going to get away with this Gecko!
Wow, who didn’t see this one coming 6 months ago?
Michael Moore is garbage. Absolutely fucking garbage. And his latest attempt at a revealing “expose” will only confirm this. His films are sensationalist pieces of ideological nonsense that fail to find any perspective other than his own.
He “exposes” nothing and his “documentaries” only harp on populist stupidity. There is no exploration of the subject; the viewer is just led through poor attempts at humor and misconceptions to construct a view that she (the viewer) and Moore already determined. Ever seen “Roger and Me” or “Bowling for Columbine?” He panders to a select cliche who have already made up their minds. The guy is disgusting and his views are so slanted that it is wrong to categorize any of his films as a “documentary.” Rather, propaganda is a more apt title for his type of films.
His movies should be placed in the same bin as “Triumph of the Will.”
The financial industry is an enabler. Someone looking solely at the financial industry is not going to figure out the whole process. MM just want to do a piece on where he thinks people should point their fingers, rather than describing the whole picture and letting people think through it on their own.
@44 is where it starts. The greed/ignorance of the home buyers and refinancers, and the greed/duplicity of the mortgage brokers and real estate agents.
What I would like to know is what goes on in the credit rating agencies. A lot of the losses (and gains) out there are caused by poorly valued CDS contracts and I think most that is due to the poor job the credit rating agencies did. Why aren’t they dragged up and out in front of congress for a proper round of “questioning”?
Chairwoman Barney should be made to wear Budd Foxx’s sweet 80′s cardigan sweater from the scene when he was making dinner for the mermaid. And another little known fact, Budd’s real estate agent was Mrs. Madoff playing herself in the film.
m moore is a fing idiot…you want the truth, we worked hard long hours, drank bottles and flew on private jets. Instead of being jealous about it maybe you should have done something about it instead being a creep.
@53
Nice, definitely makes sense to blame the Jews on this one – reminds me of a great idea a guy back in the 1930′s in Germany had – blame Jewish guys like Johnny Mack, Ken Lewis, Robert Kelly and Vikram Pandit
Scumbag
Chuck the Prince, please contact Mike Moore, NOW!
How do you clean a tunnel?
Tie a rope around Michael Moore and drag him through.
@60:
You should know that Oliver Stone used your cited speech to parody Ivan Boesky.
Moore is so rotten he was even booted out by the PTB at Mother Jones.When even those commies can smell a dead fish, then all sensible people ought to avoid this human septic tank.
Moore should get the guy who wrote this:
“Many contributors to our over-the-top boom, which led to the gross bust, are known. They include insufficient controls over morality and prudence in banks and investment banks; undesirable conduct among investment banks; greatly expanded financial leverage, aided by direct or implied use of government credit; and extreme excess, sometimes amounting to fraud, in the promotion of consumer credit. Unsound accounting was widespread.
There was also great excess in highly leveraged speculation of all kinds. Perhaps real estate speculation did the most damage. But the new trading in derivative contracts involving corporate bonds took the prize. This system, in which completely unrelated entities bet trillions with virtually no regulation, created two things: a gambling facility that mimicked the 1920s “bucket shops” wherein bookie-customer types could bet on security prices, instead of horse races, with almost no one owning any securities, and, second, a large group of entities that had an intense desire that certain companies should fail. Croupier types pushed this system, assisted by academics who should have known better. Unfortunately, they convinced regulators that denizens of our financial system would use the new speculative opportunities without causing more harm than benefit.”

@68 FTW
But Moore is going to have a tough getting an interview with the guy who said this:
“Innovation has brought about a multitude of new products, such
as subprime loans and niche credit programs for immigrants.
With these advances in technology, lenders have taken
advantage of credit-scoring models and other techniques for
efficiently extending credit to a broader spectrum of
consumers. These improvements have led to rapid growth in
subprime mortgage lending . . . fostering constructive
innovation that is both responsive to market demand and
beneficial to consumers.”
Mr. Andrea Mitchell
I have been sitting here for hours trying to come up with an appropriate comment.
The best I can do is “Michael Moore is a total fucking douchebag asshole cocksucker.”
I know it’s not original, nor particularly pithy, but it really does perfectly capture everything I want to say about this article.
@13: perfect.
I’m stealing that
Gasbag in Equinox looked pretty good. Am I gay for appreciating his form and work ethic?
76 Which location? I want to check this out.
@53 – You’re a retard.
@66 – Thanks for pointing out -solo I might add- that 53 is a retard.
@39 – That is horse shit. Truth? While he may ask questions that are salient, his manner is offensive, particularly when he takes well-planned rhetoric and surprises someone with it and subsequently edits the material to vilify the interviewee. I am not an American, yet I -happily and proudly- did my undergrad at a US school, during which time (2004) I had the ‘pleasure’ of attending a live presentation given by Mr. Moore.
While I do not disagree that shock marketing often works; when you are talking about war and health care, people -in my experience- from different sides are willing to discuss things in an equitable manner; people do not need to be insulted, particularly not Americans, after suffering through some tough recent times. Most people (families, probably Main St. hard working folk, doctors, lawyers, mechanics) were there to participate in an intellectual discussion of current affairs. What they got instead was a severe diatribe that was unbelievably insulting to many people, my
-American- friends included. I should mention though, that I was the one that insisted on leaving early, not my American buddies; these friends of mine were patient enough to withstand his battery thinking -mistakenly- that as a Canadian I would be left leaning enough to believe his malicious rant.
Furthermore, he has done his fans a great disservice in absolutely misrepresenting Canada’s healthcare system at the expense of the US.
39, Horse shit I says, HORSE SHIT! Take your pseudo “documentaries” and shove them up your ass. If Mr. Moore were to undertake such a project, be assured that he does not possess the intellectual property to accurately explain anything that we have seen in the past 10 years in the finance world.
-SealClubber
@16: Spot on!
Friends,
I am making my next movie and am looking for a hack propagandist. Based on my email, I am sure that at least one of you is so ideologically blindered that you’ll buy any tale sufficiently plausible to sell to your credulous audience.
You will be so gullible, and in such a hurry to print your “documentary” for the Christmas season, that you will not properly research my story of issuing no-doc, negative amortization ARMs to welfare queens, and then packaging the loans for investment by endowments for colleges, charities and foundations.
You have a viewpoint that American progressives want reinforced. I humbly asking for the courage to accept the humiliation of having your “research” exposed as transparently faked the day after your premier.
The important thing is for you to step up to make millions off simple-minded ignorants, so dogmatically insistent on their opinions that they will ignore positive proof of your intellectual dishonesty to hear their own beliefs repeated back to them.
So if you work in the propaganda industry, contact me at doubleagent@rightbackatya.
P. S. Not you, Al.
All of you saying that its not our fault are forgetting conveniently the ton of money that was made on Wall Street originating, packaging and distributing this crap. Wall Street enabled the housing bubble. Granted, when it burst a lot of Wall Street tumbled – but only after earning a ton of money for a good five years or so. The pain for the rest of America though is far worse. There are areas in CA and AZ that look like ghost towns. A lot of ordinary people have lost homes, livelihood, everything. This is going to be an easy story for Moore to tell.
@77 – Columbus Circle — TWC
80 You joke, but that second paragraph isnt half wrong. Maybe not welfare queens, but to a lot of people that should never have gotten a mortgage. See for example the WaMu portfolio. It was reported this week that they wrote a $300,000 mortgage on an inner city property in Tampa that went for $40,000 at auction. The home wasnt bought by a welfare queen – the note was in the name of a know felon, who got a cut for signing it and disappearing fast. Basically a real estate swindle. Working class people with 30 year amortizing loans are not the problem.
Hey! I’m a mortgage banker. What’s a real estate swindle? What’s a felon? And more importantly, what’s a “working class” person?
84 You wish you had more working class people to book mortgages with. See NY Community Bank, Hudson City Savings in NJ. Did perfectly fine with their low income borrowers, given their excellent underwriting skills. People laughed at both for slow growth during the boom years. No one is laughing now.
True that 85, Hudson City is a solid bank.
@13 that was a classic.
@18
you meant to say (insert stray cat here)
@87 — You are a classic.
Chaz
i love it, the comments section has turned into fox business news
UP NEXT: HOW THE DEMOCRATS ARE SLEEPING WITH YOUR WIFE
DOUCHEBAG!
If he’s looking to bust the perpetrators of this “crime,” shouldn’t he have sent this letter to Congressional and Fed staffers?
its fat cheeseburger munching assholes like Moore that got us into this mess. fucking communists
@81 You tend to forget about all of the money that was made by flippers, speculators and all of those that took out home equity loans to live an overextended life for 5+ years. While it did crash hard, there are entire desks in NY, Chicago and London that look like ghost towns.
No one was forced to take any of these loans and live outside their means. That should also be an easy story to tell.
Hey Michael Moore, no need to hire extras for your film. Budget $15.95 for this visual:
http://www.mcphee.com/items/11835.html
Angry Mob Play Set
Add some dramatic tension to your playtime with the Angry Mob Play Set. Each set includes nine 2″ to 3″ tall, hard vinyl villagers wielding a variety of weapons for them to wave menacingly at the object of their disdain. Great for intimidating your action figures and teaching children the concept of mob rule.
Perhaps Mr Moore will be able to find out whether or not greed *really* was a factor in all this.
13 we are not blaming banks for the economic crisis. We are blaming them for losing more on one trade than they have made in the last five.
“its fat cheeseburger munching assholes like Moore that got us into this mess. ”
are you an actual retard or do you just play one on the internet?
Boy, the homophobes are out in force on this one. Can’t you people find anything more original to say than tired old homophobic tripe?
Michael Moore and Rosie O’Donnel should make babies and document the process. It would be no less repulsive then anything else this disgusting individual has ever put out there.
The irony of this is that this is Michael Francis Moore and not Michael Kenneth Moore (New Zealand/WTO) that we’re discussing
take it “from my cold dead hands” you miserable fat bastard!
As the proud owner of comment #13, I’m glad you all enjoyed it. Bess – can we make t-shirts?
94 Yes, greed is greed, but somehow I think most people will be a lot more sympathetic towards the busted Florida homeowner than the busted Wall Street sharpie. I think even MM, with his talent for bending facts just the right way, couldn’t make a film that was sympathtic towards your buds on those desks in NY, Chicago, London. (“This is Bart, in an ironic twist, based on projected high earnings from packaging MBO’s, he just one year ago took out a $1.9 million mortgage to buy a $2 million condo on NY’s upper east side….”. I rest my case.)
SONDRY FOLKE.
douche. stop telling lies.
@13, I am crying with laughter
AR5ovT I appreciate you sharing this blog. Will read on…
