Maybe! Apparently the 11 criminal charges he's set to plead guilty on Thursday carry a century and a half behind bars. Still no word on whether or not wife Ruth will get to keep the millions she earned totally independent of the scam.
Update: CNBC reports that the government is asking for $170.8 billion in forfeiture from Madoff.

Rumors are Bern & Ruth may arrange a "divorce" in name only so she gets to keep the $62M in assets.
What are the chances she actually divorces him?

No way she will keep the assets. They started with nothing and will end with nothing.
All the chumps that invested with him will end up with pennies as well.

If Ruth and the 2 sons get to keep all their so-called "unrelated" money, and if Bernie takes the fall alone, then the world will know that all is well on Wall St and that Uncle Sam has no dick and no balls.

@9, There was plenty of legitimate income. Madoff securities was one of the biggest market makers on the NASDAQ. At one point one out of every five trades was being routed through that shop. Bern just had this little side hobby where he churned his friends' accounts down to nothing while he sent them glowing reports of their riches...
