Had Timmmmmay gone to work for the Post Office they would have bought him out for the full $1.6mm.
Treasury’s benefits suck. Though I guess there will be a book deal at the end of this.

  9. Posted by guest | March 11, 2009 at 3:47 PM

Wow, it’s decorated like my nanny’s quarters, Do all civil servants live like this?

  10. Posted by guest | March 11, 2009 at 3:48 PM

Give the guy a break, entirely possible that all his furniture is gone and that is his real estate agents’ idea of “staging.”

  11. Posted by guest | March 11, 2009 at 3:49 PM

I wouldn’t even wipe Chazzy G’s ass with that couch.

Does Tim Geithner’s house really sound like that, or is that music just in the video?

  14. Posted by guest | March 11, 2009 at 3:55 PM

Little spackling and some napalm and that place will make a great mausoleum.

  15. Posted by guest | March 11, 2009 at 3:59 PM

Is that a Keebler fudge stain on the couch?

  16. Posted by guest | March 11, 2009 at 4:02 PM

Maybe Lil’ Timmy can ask his boss for some real estate tips. I’m sure a sleazy contributor could throw in part of an adjacent lot to make the place a bit more, you know, marketable.

  17. Posted by guest | March 11, 2009 at 4:03 PM

The painting over the fireplace is too small and I’d love to see them open up the room with some French doors. Maybe add a few cushions on the leather chairs to really make the room pop.
Or maybe just say screw it. I’d guess it was questionably decorated on purpose to discourage the kind of bidding war that usually occurs when a “name” property comes on the market.
Wanna bet they left all that Almond Roca in the litter box on purpose?

  18. Posted by guest | March 11, 2009 at 4:04 PM

gawdy furniture, wood paneling on the walls and terrible colors choices. Also, the master bath was crappy. On the plus side, the kitchen is nice.

  19. Posted by guest | March 11, 2009 at 4:05 PM

this is a serious question- is his wife asian?

  20. Posted by guest | March 11, 2009 at 4:11 PM

He bought at the “top of the market” and he is like very other seller, in this buyers market, he raises the price and expects to get it. And, BTW he is handling the crisis. UGH

  21. Posted by guest | March 11, 2009 at 4:11 PM

@ 19 here. she’s not, just googled her. so why all the asian-inspired chotzky. and why all the ugly paint and furniture?

  22. Posted by guest | March 11, 2009 at 4:16 PM

Oh come on, it’s not so bad. It probably looks like any regular person’s house who doesn’t have hundreds of thousands of $$ to piss away on decorators and who’s dying to get his place into Architectural Digest or some similarly shallow publication. With the exception of that blue/red upstairs room–that was kind of weird.
Anyway, if you think his place is so awful, you should see some of the crap you get for that price in the Bay Area.

  23. Posted by guest | March 11, 2009 at 4:21 PM

google him. he’s actually color blind, which explains much about the NEON BLUE craziness

  24. Posted by guest | March 11, 2009 at 4:24 PM

@23- but unlikely that the wife is too. so, no pass.

  25. Posted by guest | March 11, 2009 at 4:34 PM

I recognize the piano…it used to belong to Archie and Edith Bunker.

  26. Posted by guest | March 11, 2009 at 4:45 PM

@2 — It’s in Larchmont, not Mamaroneck. Congrats. You’re today’s “Douche of the Day”

  27. Posted by guest | March 11, 2009 at 4:56 PM

I like the plastic on all of the furniture.

He was an asian studies major in college , thus the fascination with all things asian.
Apparently, his ability to speak Chinese will help the US with its current deficit problem.

WTF no 50″+ LCD/Plasma above the fireplace?
    Damnit, that’s just UNAMERICAN!

  32. Posted by guest | March 11, 2009 at 5:55 PM

    I know the area well.
1.It is Larchmont PO Box (i.e., mailing address) and it is the Town of Mamaroneck. Same thing happens in lots of other towns in Westchester (worst case is to say you live in Bronxville (PO), but you really live in Yonkers or Eastchester).
    2. The asking price – - while Mr. Market will speak, it really isn’t a bad price given how close it is to Larchmont train station (short walk) and then 32 minute ride to midtown. 5 Bedrooms – - how much is decent a 3 B/R on UES?
    3. I agree the decor is schlocky, but they’ve only been there a couple of years and it is mad expensive to re-tile the neon blue tiles in bathroom; and the bleach blond wood doesn’t fit the style.

Good idea by the realtor to make sure that Timmy’s boster seat wasn’t part of the video tour.
Blame it on a 203 area code bias but why pay all that money for no land and high property taxes (tough for Timmy to dodge property taxes)? It is slightly more square footage than a place in the city but a much longer commute than from the city and you have no land. Westchester taxes are several times what Fairfield County taxes are and you get more land and square footage in CT. If you spend at least 10 hours a day sitting 2 feet from pricks on either side of you, why would you then buy a place in Westchester County for well over $1.5 million for the same chance to have your house 30 feet from those same pricks on either side of you? Tell me that you do it so you can be within walking distance of the Temple (Scarsdale) – just don’t make a fool of yourself by saying it is for the schools.

Only one question after the impeccabley sound tracked video:
