And yet, he can’t stop publicly encouraging them to do so! Clearly this is merely a case of needing fresh material, but lacking inspiration (and the matter of the fact that few things roll off the tongue like “fuck off and die”). He’s a Senator, so suggesting castration probably won’t do, but surely you people can come up with something as effective but less touchy than Grass’s current track.

And how many Senators fell on their swords when the twin towers came down?

  2. Posted by guest | March 17, 2009 at 11:24 AM

@1- um, I’m no fan of Grassley, but these AIG execs ACTUALLY CAUSED the crisis, as in, it can be proven, whereas the Senate did not cause 9/11, you ‘tard.

2 Yeah, everyone knows it was caused by Bush, with assistance from Condi, in the form of ignoring intelligence warnings in the summer of 2001. The Senate had nothing to do with it.

  5. Posted by guest | March 17, 2009 at 11:30 AM

what was wrong with his suggestion?

  6. Posted by guest | March 17, 2009 at 11:31 AM

Cashly Assley or Grassley – no one rides for free !

  7. Posted by guest | March 17, 2009 at 11:35 AM

@4- you fucking idiot, did I say it was caused by Bush? No. But way to get touchy about it. And even if he DID ignore warning signs, and even if Congress did too, they didn’t fly the plane into the damn buildings, which is essentially what AIG did. Do you see the distinction (I doubt it).

  8. Posted by guest | March 17, 2009 at 11:36 AM

wow does Trish Regan’s Kelly green sweater meat look fabulous today

  9. Posted by guest | March 17, 2009 at 11:38 AM

@7 – AND furthermore, the planes were flown into the buildings by Iraqis, and then Bush took out Saddam Hussein. Ergo, Bush is a better President than Obama.

  10. Posted by guest | March 17, 2009 at 11:38 AM

I must have missed something. Did we have a problem with telling AIG to “f$^! off and die”? If not, whom better?

  11. Posted by guest | March 17, 2009 at 11:40 AM

Is there any country that actually promotes capitalism, anymore?? “Guest” would like to move, please.

Fuck you, Grassley. No, that’s just rhetoric – I don’t expect you to actually fuck yourself.

  16. Posted by guest | March 17, 2009 at 11:44 AM

@9- i sincerely hope that was sarcasm (can tell anymore).

@ 11 – Hong Kong, Singapore, New Zealand.

  18. Posted by guest | March 17, 2009 at 11:56 AM

12 Please explain. The contribution limit is $5,000. That is the limit from one entity, which would be either the AIG Political Action Committee or any individual AIG employee. Are you saying that Dodd for example collected a total of $103,100 from AIG and individuals that work there? If that’s the case, someone walked up and down the aisles and asked people to write checks made payable to Dodd and the others too, in an aggregate amount approaching $500,000. Ouch. Its not like the company wrote the check.

From @1. Their is a distinction between causing something and preventing that thing from occurring. E.g. The army goes into battle (our intelligence services), they fail to stop 9/11, the politicians fall on their swords because the army failed.
We are not discussing the other guys (we are trying to kill them) who caused all the shit.
Senator Grassley is out of line and playing to the home crowd. And he knows it.
No one is defending AIG excepy Goldman et al. As the former CEO of AIG, Greenberg, used to say, “All I need is a little unfair advantage.”

@8 – you could not be more right. TR pillows are making me feel like it is time for a good grin n grip

  21. Posted by guest | March 17, 2009 at 12:12 PM

Fair is fair — is congress going to accept the same standard? Given the complete failure of Washington, that would be a spectacle truly worthy of pay per view tv.

  22. Posted by guest | March 17, 2009 at 12:13 PM

@ 9, you cannot be serious.

  23. Posted by guest | March 17, 2009 at 12:18 PM

19 Where is he out of line? He’s saying that the tradition of owing up to one’s mistakes is totally missing here. The suicide angle clouds that, but the basic concept is reasonable: the folks that were in charge have so far failed to admit their errors and pay a price for them.
