We maintain D-Rat would be open to hosting a lifestyle show for bros, but apparently the (soon to be) former Fast Money ringermaster is considering a number of big dreams.

Insiders tell TVNewser the Page Six item is “overblown.” “It’s less about Krakower and more about him,” says the source. “He wants to be the next Letterman.”
And Ratigan has made no secret of that. “My dream job is late-night TV,” Ratigan told Marketwatch.com’s Jon Friedman in 2007. That summer, Ratigan also hosted a game show for CNBC.

The last sentence is great. Who wrote that?

Well dylan, Condoleesa Rice’s dream job was to be Commissioner of the NFL. How did that work out for her?

I hope Jim Cramer takes his spot on Fast Money…that guy really can call ‘em.

Mike will take him back anytime, right?

Wow. I’d love to listen in on the calls between DR and his representation.
“Dylan, baby, CNBC is too SMALL for you! You’re smart! Personable! Lovable! And you are, if I can say, one FUNNY f**ker! Letterman? Yesterday! Fallon? Not happening! There’s a window opening here that we can fit a full-sized RATIGAN through and by God we are going to make it happen!”

How I will miss that nonstop staccato burst of loud claptrap from that jackass-coupled with his incessant use of “in other words”

  9. Posted by guest | March 27, 2009 at 3:03 PM

Why is he leaving Fast Money or should I say when is he leaving?

  10. Posted by guest | March 27, 2009 at 3:05 PM

    move over Carson Daly

I heard his dream job was writing for Dealbreaker…
…then he heard bloggers usually live with their parents and don’t have benefits. Living with his parents he could look past but paying cash at the ER was too low class for Dylan.

This is a sad day for Fast Money. I like that show.

  16. Posted by guest | March 27, 2009 at 3:15 PM

@13- what a great dis! except for the fact that writers at the site have 401(k) plans and full benefits (which presumably, you the unemployed wall streeter, do not).

    Fast Night, Money Late.
    with Dylan Ratigan

  18. Posted by guest | March 27, 2009 at 3:30 PM

Maybe he’ll have a spot on the Daily Show? Probably can put a lot of material to good use.

  19. Posted by guest | March 27, 2009 at 3:37 PM

I like Fast Money. Why so much hate for the show? Karen Finerman is also hot.

  20. Posted by guest | March 27, 2009 at 3:46 PM

    @20 for a fat chick

  21. Posted by guest | March 27, 2009 at 4:22 PM

I agree with @20 Finerman is totally hot.

He should get a ceremonial farewell motorboat from Caruso-Cabrera on his way out. Either that or a Brunett blumpkin.

More “talent” will be leaving CNBC this year.

  25. Posted by e_anthony58 | March 27, 2009 at 4:51 PM

Anonymous got it right. Melissa Lee would be perfect for Fast Money…if they continue it.
FBN wishes they could hire someone like Dylan.
So what is ABC possibly going to do with him?? Probably give him some game show that will last 2 yrs? Do some money reports on GMA, WorldNews, 2020 and Nightline?? Theres no way ABC’s going to push out Kimmel for Dylan.

  26. Posted by guest | March 27, 2009 at 7:14 PM

-He is going to host a midnight Fashion Show
-How about hosting infomercial for CNBC on weekend.
    -A driver for Erin
-pepper stucker for Cramer’s mouth everytime he says this is the bottom and we are going for the bull rally
-reminder for Haines everytime he forgets what to say.
    -Joe Kernin’s slapper
-Gasbagarumor’s Chief of Staff for his “Reliable Sources”
    Brigade
    -hotdog Chef for traders
Too many jobs for Dylan waiting just can’t decide

FBN will be going out of business in a couple of years, that is not an option.
NWS earnings were hit pretty hard in the last couple quarters due to Murdoch and Ailes’ collective egos in creating a lower class business network than even CNBS.

Dylan Ratigan is an absolute idiot. I am sure he will do well in a late late late night tv spot. Maybe 2:00 AM. No one is more impressed with himself than DR. Good bye and good riddence. fast money will not be the same with out him. It will be better.

  30. Posted by guest | March 28, 2009 at 2:39 AM

He was great on FM. Will prob have a blast doing whatever the heck he is going to do. Maybe his tag line can be “What have ya got?”

  31. Posted by guest | March 28, 2009 at 12:39 PM

Maybe Dylan Rati-gone and Maxine Waters both can host the most accurate and splendid financial and political shows ever.
They both have personalities that engineers would say “unlike poles attract each other” is good chemistry.

I used to dislike Ratigan but I think he does a good job of keeping Fast Money from becoming Hannity and Colmes. I think if he started a Charlie Rose-esqe financial show it could be quite successful. Successful relative to CNBC’s current late night ratings. So like, I would watch.
As for Melissa Lee, she is an alien right?

  33. Posted by guest | March 28, 2009 at 8:03 PM

    @ 33
An alien with brain and that’s what Wall Street needs.

Fast Money hosted with Dylan was excellent financial news.
Sadly, it will not be the same without him.
