So Jon Stewart is apparently not over being stood up by Rickles Santelli the other day. He went on Letterman last night to continue giving it to RS and the CNBC team in general, taking issue with the fact that while they claim to be the number one business network and on top of all things finance, they really don’t have a clue as to what the hell is going on. On the one hand, this is true, but on the other, um, duh? Do we have a CNBC first-timer is the hizzous? [via Gawker]

He is a traitor to the Tribe.
Schlomo Pride.
Rick’s pissed. He’s taking next week off.
CNBC was asking for it by fawning over CEOs and traders and then freaking out when the shit hit the fan and getting militant with the current Administration. Rush Limbaugh is probably popping Oxycontin and saying prayers of thanks for CNBC taking the heat off of him.
I love it!!
Keep it up Jon, keep the pressure on the scumbags at CNBC.
Stewart is a douche so he is the perfect fit for Letterman. Pretty sad state of his carrer when he has to take shots at Rick Santelli to remain relevant in a post Bush world.
Who are you people?
stewart trumps cnbc as king of doucheland
Stewart is King! You guys have no clue!
Go back to listening to pill popping Limbaugh and watch what’s left of the Republic Party gut each other in public!
Great sport all-in-all!
Stewart is holding cnbc ACCOUNTABLE! Someone needs to hold them ACCOUNTABLE and finally Stuart is doing this. He is SPEAKING TRUTH TO POWER by attacking media personalities hostile to the President!
Respectfully,
/s/ Bill Moyers, Nina Totenberg, Dan Rather, Gail Collins, Wlater Duranty

Jon Stewart hasn’t been this on fire in a long time. You go Jon!
Dylan Ratigan is going to beat Stewart’s ass on the playground after school.
I can’t remember, which of his names is fake, is it the Jon or the Stuart?
No Tags?
idiot@13- ‘jon,’ is not fake, that’s the typical spelling (sans ‘h’) when you’re Jewish.
the only people that are bashing John Stewart are liberals…the same liberals who lauded him when he cracked on bush day in day out…you are all hypocrites…did you see the Daily Show from earlier this week? Kramer, and all the other nut jobs at CNBC do NOT know what they are doing, that said neither do any of the others.
Mr. Stuart is so brave. It takes real courage to attack conservative sentiment in the face of such a monolithic conservative media. I wonder where he derives such strength? It must come from deep inside himself. One day his image will grace our stamps and currency.
@16- wtf fuck are you talking about? the only people who bash JON (no ‘h’) Stewart are conservative idiots who are bitter about losing. Also, buy a clue: it’s Cramer, with a ‘C.’.
@16 wtf. are you drunk already?
@18 – kill yourself
Jon Stewart from Spin City and The Nanny? What’s that guy been up to? Mixed Nuts was pretty good, but Death to Smoochy sucked.
19 = ratigan’s dentist
Jon Stewart is Jewish?
That is just crazy talk.
He played soccer at W&M for goodness sake.
Oy.
Who are all of these people? Did Jefferies just implode?
I heard that after his third biting commentary against CNBC he gets a free ride on Sasha and Malia’s new swing set.
the bottom line: cnbc deserves every criticism it gets, for being hack idiots, but stewarts hits just haven’t been funny.
Look, the guy has to go after CNBC. It’s not like there’s anything worth mocking on NPR. Jeez, give the guy a break, he found the only obvious target.
@19 – I tried that yesterday when this great site became a bastion for the douchey SUNY type Stewart fanatics who wear the rectangular rimmed glasses, have a two day trimmed shadow and who think that labor unions are a positive force for the economy… No luck, I was called a “sissy” and told to “go back to dungeons and dragons”…
I wish some transactions would actually be announced so we could get back to the old days…
LOBSTERCLOPS will RISE!
The key point is that Stuart has Obama’s respect. I mean, it’s not like Obama looks at him as useful idiot white guy liberal or anything. I’m sure Obama watches the Daily Show with rapt attention each night and laughs right along with the audience of 35 year old Swarthmore anthropology degree holders.
29 I’m gonna disagree with your first point re SUNY types. But totally on re the second: there’s just nothing happening, therefore nothing to comment on. We haven’t been able to move beyond Madoff, BofA, Citi.
@30 — wtf?
Stuart serves an important role in Obama’s winning coalition of 10 million wealthy, highly educated white urban liberals and the 150 million poor people who hate them.
@22
Sir -
I must protest in the strongest terms.
While Death to Smoochy was nowhere near the cinematic masterpiece of Mixed Nuts, it still ranks his in the Stewart oeuvre of film triumphs.
Only a master thespian like Jonathan Stuart Leibowitz could fully realize the potential found in a character such as Marion Frank Stokes.
~ James Lipton
Stewart is just scared that Michelle Obama will eat him if he says anything negative about Barry.
@29, 31 – you people make me sad. My suggestion to you is to start learning a trade so you might be able to contribute something of value someday.
@29 And stop bashing SUNY, you loser. You don’t know what the attraction is unlike some of us.
Jefferies analysts should be banned from this site.
@39 Atleast JEF’s stock > 5.
Women love Jon Stewart. The kind of women who petition courts so that they can legally change their last names from Goodman to Goodperson.
I still think JSL is funny, but isn’t he being a bit selective in his targets? I’m trying to recall when the great investigative newspapers like the NYT and WaPo were telling their (fewer and fewer) readers to avoid the IB’s, that the IB assets were toxic, and that there were serious frauds extant. Can someone help refresh my memory?
I’m not sure nationalization of the banking system, but I do hope every single commenter on this site gets thrown in prison.
Any comments using the “Stuart” spelling, i.e. unfunny attempts at anti-Semitism will be removed, no discussion. You’re going to have to do better than that.
LOBSTERCLOPS!
Bess -
That is the correct spelling of his middle name.
I wanna’ watch Stewart stick his thumb in Tiny Tim’s plum. Unleash the attack dogs!
http://www.nndb.com/people/222/000022156/
You’re all idiots, do a little research…his last name is Leibowitz
Too stereotypical, Stewart is a lot easier on the Liberal christian ears
@marshall mensa- it’s no longer his middle name, it’s his last name, and it’s not spelled that way.
@48
What color is the sky in your world?
Moron.
@44 And while you are at it, can we please remove inane posts like 30,45?
“Change” does not equal fix. We, and the prez, will learn this the hard way. Richmond fed president said stimulus bill will provide relief at the margins. YIKES.
This guy probably used to watch CNBC 24/7 and rode the bull market gravy train like everyone else. Now he’s just lashing-out like a whiney beyotch.
Not that I necessarily disagree with him, but people who had no business involving themselves with finance thought they could be pros just by watching CNBC and listening to snipets and punditry, and now they wonder why they’re down 50%.
Shocking, really.
Why is the heat off Rick Santelli here? The guy is a raving lunatic.
@51 = Trig Palin
52 Not sure what yr saying here, but I do know that the Richmond fed pres pick is traditionally the pro-labor appointee. I’ve heard the current guy speak and he totally fits that model. So I guess he’s saying he supports the stim, but would like more.
wow, you people take this all too seriously. He’s a comedian and entertainer and makes no ambiguity about it.
Lighten up, Francis.
@53 – you know who else is down 50%? Citadel. So maybe no one knows what they’re doing, eh? (Except, of course, the Great and Almighty Nassim Nicholas Taleb, Praise Be Upon Him)
Beating up on anyone in the media business is really east.
Heck, beating up on John Stewart is really easy. He tried to hide behind the ‘but I am only a comic’ excuse whenever cornerned but that myth is easily busted with a few clips from his own show.
So John Stewart of all people has some gall beating media people up for being inconsistent and biased. It is just that other people are decent enough not to bawl like a baby on his show like he did with Tucker Carlson.
The only man you cannot pin down is Colbert. You cannot call him inconsistent because his show is designed to be inconsistent and biased! That man is more leftist that Stewart but also way way more intelligent and funny. John Stewart used his writers to generate the humor and acts like a prick. He is one sad person, all he got right was the format.
How’s that socialism working out for Europe? People’s paradise in Cuba and Venezuela, too.
Young fools. I enjoy watching this liberal crowd thump their chests and scream “we’re saving the world chests, capitalists are evil”. Only at the end will you learn. Until then, thanks for the amusement. 60s radicalism made the Baby Boomers a great generation, too!
56, to the contrary, in his interview on CNBC he said he thought there would be recovery without the stimulus, so it sounds like he doesn’t support it (although it would be fair to read up on his thoughts, but I most certainly won’t).
@60 – What the shit are you talking about? Europe is not worse off than the US.
@59 – Why are you stating how left Colbert and Stewart are? None of them actually present any real views, just their choices of what to pick on, which is only a mild indicator.
Is the idea that every single comedy presenter you know of has a team of writers new to you? Really?

60 Do you happen to wear glasses?
Viva El Commandante!
“None of them actually present any real views, just their choices of what to pick on”
If you really think that it is as simple as that then you are 1)dumb 2)a victim of propaganda
Let me break it out for you with one example.
DNC 2008. Objects of humor – Bidens sons name, Hillarys long speech, Obamas dorkiness etc etc
RNC 2008. Objects of humor – How McCain has changed his stance on issues, what his primary opponents (not supporting him) said about him.
And the highlight – Bush’s and McCain’s acceptance speeches spliced together to show that they said the same things.
Now, ALL Republican and Democratic acceptance speeches have 90% of the things common. All he did here was forward Obama’s main argument (McCain=Bush) in a way that Obama couldn’t.
McCains point wad Obama=communist. The dem manifesto has major overlaps with the original communist manifesto. Did anyone highlight it? No. But the irony is the exact same – isnt it?
You can agree with Stewart’s views but if you do not even see what is being done, then I feel sorry for you.
65 Do you happen to wear glasses?
Vava La Revolucion!
How is Europe better off than the US? Their lower GDP per capita? Their higher unemployment? Their huge national debts? Their inability to defend themselves (they provide nothing more than window dressing for NATO). Their aging populations? Those countries are nice to visit but they don’t even begin to compare to the US in terms of prosperity or innovation.
@65 – the moment I typed that I knew someone would misread it and rant. My comment was no doubting their leftness, just the ability to gauge. Thanks for your ridiculous, asinine speech.
@67 – Their huge national debts? (compared to ours) Are you some sort of clown. Inability to defend themselves? Last I checked they didn’t have to. How many 9/11s did they have? That’s right, zero. Overall the US is in a bit more distress than Euro land.
I really want to go on more about how bullshit your rant is but the your American flag cape might block your view.
“My comment was no doubting their leftness, just the ability to gauge”
I just pointing out glaring and blatand demonstration of stewart’s ‘leftiness’? How else do you gauge? I am not aware of any anal probes that tell you whether a person is lefty or not, unless you know otherwise.
@69 – you are a functioning retarded person.
67 You might also note that European countries are ancient lands that have survived for centuries as a result of smart growth policies (sometimes accidental, yes, but nevertheless smart). In 2007 in fact per capita GDP growth was higher there than the US. The US in contrast is only a few hundred years old and is digging itself into a deep hole. It maintains prosperity by paving over its countryside and looking the other way while cheep labor sneaks across its borders. Not a sustainable strategy.
71, we can all opine on non-specifics and never reach a conclusion.
So why not look at something a little more objective? I think that it is fair to believe that immigrants mostly head towards ‘better’ opportunities.
So if immigrants of every type – blue collar, black collar and green collar are literally breaking down the doors to get into the US whereas nothing of that sort is happening out there in europe, that says something – doesnt it?
@ 71 – WWI/WWII were smart growth policies? Ever heard about the events leading up to 1789? That wasn’t too long ago, especially for “an ancient land.” And don’t go blaming us for causing the Anschluss with our demand for the WWI reparations, that’s just not fair.
@ 72 – The Europeans won’t let them in, though, or at least their immigration policies are very restricted, which goes against the whole tired-and-poor thing we’ve got here. The ones who are there illegally work in the black market and commit most of the petty crimes, or if they are Polish, they pick asparagus and tile people’s bathrooms.
Sure, you can sit in a small town in Europe and be smug but go to London (Jamaicans), Paris (African Muslims) or Berlin (Albanians, Russians) and you can see what it would be like if they let everybody in like we do.
Haved lived in both places, each offers something good and not-so-good. If you want to make a fortune, the US is best. If you want to be a postal employee, then Europe is the place for you.
CNBC and especially Kudlow see more bottoms than a Brazilian lifeguard.
@72
More Mexican immigrants returning home
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2201013/posts
And you don’t know Europe.
Jon Stewart’s skewering of CNBC will be as everlasting as his taking down of
Tucker Carlson and Paul Begala on CNN’s Crossfire. He called them out and they looked like fools…..CNBC should just accept that they blew it and missed the largest implosion of the financial markets ever. Their arrogance and hypocrisy are unbelieveable. Keep it up, Jon…..this 66 year old will keep watching your show and cheering you on!
As usual, it takes Comedy Central to speak truth to power. Thank God these guys are around. Santelli’s an idiot and a douchebag. CNBC should be ashamed for letting him get away with his Reich-Wing rant on live television.
77 Viva Che!
CNBC is a lot like Rush. Basically entertainment, but some actually take it seriously. They have been on the clueless side of their subject matter for a long time.
more idiots on this post – I’m referring to the ones attacking Jon Stewart who is the THE MAN.
To say that Stewart is peddling propaganda and that Obama is to blame for the disappearing jobs and crashing DOW is beyond laughable.
@68- Do you know anything about the state of Europe at the moment? How do you explain yields of Ireland, Italy, Greece, let alone Eastern Europe. Who do you think is going to bail them out? Germany, Austria. There is talk that Eastern Europe will make the subprime crisis look tame.
@55- That’s kinda fucked up
qQEbmU A big thank you for your blog post.Thanks Again. Want more.
