Picture 1169.pngCNBC’s Steve Liesman reports a government official denies that the Federal Reserve chairman ever told Ken Lewis not to disclose the Merrill losses prior to the deal going through. Which is all well and good and nice to hear but I think we all knew the soft-spoken professor was not the one shoving Lewis in meat locker and threatening in, no uncertain terms, bodily harm to his person if he failed to zip the lip. That would be a job best left to a slightly more intimidating figure.

Charlie was on CNBC yesterday afternoon. Apparently he has taken a few weeks off to write another book.
I’m sure you’ll see plenty of him soon as he comes back with a few “scoops” so he can plug the book.

A CEO is told “If you tell a lie, we will keep you as CEO; if you tell the true, we will fire you.” What can he say to save himself?
Solution– You will keep me as CEO….

    Or it’s #49

Ken Lewis is in a room with 2 doors. There are guards, Hank Paulson and Ben Bernanke, at each door. One door is the entrance to his plush, windowed, corner CEO office and behind the other door is wideclops with the pink slip and a bunch of angry BAC shareholders. He’s told that one guard always tells the truth and the other guard always lies. He doesn’t know which guard is which. He’s allowed to ask one question to either Hank or Ben to determine which door is his office door. Which question should he ask?
    Solution–
Ask either Hank or Ben what door the other govt official would say is his office, then choose the opposite door.
If the Ken asks the govt guard who always tells the truth, the govt guard knows the other guy would lie, so he’ll point him to the door leading to the pink slip and marauding shareholders. If Ken asks the govt guard who always lies, the govt guard knows the other guy would truthfully show Ken his office, so he’ll lie and point Ken to the door leading to an ouster and pissed off shareholders.
