ABC News offered a sneak peak of its interview with accused Ponzier Allen Stanford in print form yesterday, and while they mostly gave it all away, watching the whole thing go down in live action is very much worth it. First off, we assumed this was going to be a studio sit-down with reporter Brian Ross, but in actuality it was an impromptu tear-fest outside a Houston restaurant that the network had staked out, with a sauced-up Stan talking off the cuff, against the wishes of his attorney. So that's points right off the bat. Then there's the cocktail lounge music playing in the background. That's plus 20. And, obviously, the choking back of (fake?) tears over being deprived of being named Forbes' 405th richest bitch in the world. Which, if you think about it, really is something worth crying over (though you don't see a certain Stamfordian getting wet in public over not making Alpha's top ten earners of the year, now do you?)

Allen, your tears mean nothing. Address the allegations if you want to defend your name, reputation and integrity.
Why did you go for years claiming to be a direct descendant of Leland Stanford, Jr.? Why did you claim for years that the company you ran had a direct lineal relationship that could be traced back to the 1930's when you knew that wasn't true and the roots of your companies went back barely 20 years? Why did you claim $50 billion under management "or advisement" when you knew your companies actually had less than $15B under management and that the remaining $35b (the bulk of the claimed size of the empire) was a misleading claim that you were acting as investment advisor when no such relationship existed? (Read Steve Stecklow's WSJ column of last week)
Start with the easy questions before we move to the more pertinent questions. Once we determine just how much integrity you have, we can talk about what you have to defend.
Oh, and enough with the crap about caring for your employees. Allowing Mary Zora to be your HR person alone shows you didn't care for your employees in the least. If you cared about your employees or your clients, you wouldn't have fired the employees who spoke up about unlawful activities going on within the Stanford organization.

he flies private jets all the time, but is a common man.. This guy is an asshole. He should go to a real jail so he can take it up the ass for the next 10 years ( and they should also take all his money). \I guess if it is not ponzi the 8 billion should turn up soon enough. ( but i am sure we all know that is just bullshit).. put him in jail for life and take all the money.. that way white collar crime might be reduced...
