Madoff Accountant Bienes Soul Searches: “God Wanted Us To Have This”

That’s the answer Michael Bienes came up with when he paused one day to wonder if something was awry at Madoff Securities, which we’ll likely hear more on in the upcoming PBS investigation “The Madoff Affair,” airing next Tuesday. Also interviewed for the flick are Tremont founder Sandra Manzke, and Sherry Cohen, former assistant to Fairfield Greenwich founder Walter Noel, who’s probably going to take a moment to discuss how Wallie is a big fan of the for-pay-handies,* if we’re continuing with that theme.
*Hopefully including shout-outs for his favorite Fairfield county establishments.

    Like I’ve always said, greedy New York types are always stealing and hurting my pension benefits system.
    When my wife and I are reduced to eating stale whole-fried crabs every night, you KNOW these New York guys have just gotta go.

    TGFD – The quote is a little out of context. I believe it is from the early 90s, presumably, before he knew about the fraud.

    So somewhere in his busy schedule god took time out to choose these particular schmucks as being entitled to win lotto?? “Chosen Ones” heh? All manner of guilt-inducing sins can be hidden with that rubric…and now that atonement is at hand, who chose THAT for them? Themselves of course. It was themselves all along. And look again at the tape…how ugly is the face of greed and sloth. It behoves us all to look into the mirror and be honest about what we see. Otherwise – like these grotesques – it will be too late…
