Most of you have probably noticed by this point that Rebecca Jarvis is sitting in Erin Burnett’s seat on Squawk Box this morning. Mark Haines opened the show by saying only that his main squeeze was off, but did not get into more detail, either because she left coldly in the middle of the night* without leaving a note, or because he needed the camera to cut away while he dealt with the tears. No matter. She’s been located. Burnett is moonlighting over on the Today Show where she’s had her hands full conducting interviews on a wide-range of topics including Susan Boyle and Jon & Kate. For those of you worried that she’ll get rusty when it comes to talking cash money, do not fear. Erin also spoke with the South Dakota rancher who won a $232 million Powerball jackpot. As for you, Mark, dry those eyes. While we did sense a little chemistry between EB and Matt Lauer, it was likely just for show (she’s a professional afterall). You know she’d never leave you for good.

@1- it's a guest host thing. it's in both EB and MB's contracts to have a certain number of appearances on other GE-owned networks.

She had that sweet, slow, understanding Midwestern cadence on "Today" as opposed to that cute, brisk "City" cadence she uses on "Squawk".

You are right. But Maria has not hosted in a couple of years. She tried and failed (i think the last time she tried the today show katie couric was still the regular host).
Now she does her time as a commentator on MTM (meet the press) which Burnett does as well.

@4- I don't remember the last time they discussed a food company or had food on the desk and she didn't go for a "mark likes cookies" dig of some sort.

@5- Erin is really bad on MTM, as she is on the other shows she makes the rounds to (the Bill Maher appearance was epically bad). CNBC seems to be the place for her.

It's amazing how dumb Erin Burnett is. All the CNBC anchors are pretty dim, but I get just amazed by some of the nuggets of stupidity that come out of her mouth regularly.

She seemed uneasy interviewing Kathy (forgot the last name), the D-Lister.
Crack about that 23 year old winner being single as boyfriend is like taming(?) a cougar?...something to that effect.
Erin is always hot and awesome.

Yeah but Rebecca Jarvis voice is much much harsher on the ears than anything except perhaps Melissa Lee's. But Jarvis's accent just doesn't sound right in that spot. Please bring back Erin.
