i love his “ordinary american” name dropping…
“did i tell you all, about, Bob, and Loretta Jones, from Nashville? Their dog, needs braces, and that, is, a travesty.”

@gherkin- don’t let the fact that it’s done by every single politician on either side of the aisle get in the way of a good quip.

@4- uh, he didn’t say that, but don’t let that bother you.

Yeah, well it’s cool, Leon Panetta’s got the CIA running tight, so when we go banana boat, we’ll be able to complete the purges without much trouble.

So if Barry is correct in his prognostication the following will occur:
    1. America will beg for a bail out
    2. President will be fired Waggoner style
I like the way this may turn out…..

If Obama manages to implement any meaningful kind of health care reform I’ll eat my own shit.

Would that not insinuate (by recent precedent)that he would be forced to resign?

  11. Posted by guest | June 15, 2009 at 12:33 PM

does that mean he’s going to force us into bankruptcy and screw our creditors all for the sake of the unions that elected him?

  12. Posted by merkin capital partners | June 15, 2009 at 12:34 PM

He does it every time. With a new character. Stick to one and that might be entertaining. Union Eunice, Factory Freddy. It will be like Garbage Pail Kids!

  15. Posted by guest | June 15, 2009 at 12:35 PM

Yes–because nothing will prevent us from “going the way of GM” like massive spending and debt load to subsidize the most useless assets we have–sick, poor people.

  16. Posted by guest | June 15, 2009 at 12:35 PM

how can you guys not agree with this point. “no fatties!”?

  17. Posted by Porker Stankleberry | June 15, 2009 at 12:37 PM

If Obama manages to implement his definition of meaningful healthcare reform, you and the rest of us will be eating shit, fake-Porker @9.
I don’t wish that on any of us.

@27 Yeah, right, only in your own minds! You embraced Bush. I say that just about sums it up, Genius!
As for healthcare, has the government EVER done anything more efficient than private industry? Has the government EVER done it better and/or cheaper and/or with fewer errors. Do you really want the DMV in your hospital room????!!!! Ugh!
Sure, it sucks that a bunch of people don’t have healthcare, but when you get sick, don’t you want the best care regardless of cost?

  34. Posted by guest | June 15, 2009 at 1:02 PM

why am i not surprised that people from the region which embraced unions wholeheartedly, a pure form of socialism, grow big fat rubbery ones when totally socialized medicine is put on the table…
more handouts for the area of the country which SURVIVES on handouts and heavy-handed socialism…

  38. Posted by guest | June 15, 2009 at 1:05 PM

Here’s a thought for how to price things:
First 80 pounds per person free (free health care for the kiddies!).
Next 100 pounds is $20/pound/year premiums
    Next 50 pounds is $50/pound
    $1000/pound after that.
    Sounds about right…..

I didn’t think he meant “socialism” when he was talking about all that “change” stuff. anyone travel to canada looking for healthcare recently?

Hopefully Barry’s well on the way to getting our global community as organized as chicago was. Dude handles business (and just wait until that bball court is setup @ the whitehouse..).

  59. Posted by guest | June 15, 2009 at 1:32 PM

@58, what in the Sam Hell did you think he was going to be? If you were President and your party had control of Congress, would you really try to be pragmatic, move to the center or just do whatever the fk you wanted? Yeah, good thing we learned to fear one party govt after Bush…

  60. Posted by guest | June 15, 2009 at 1:32 PM

High health care costs for both retirees and employees were a major contributing factor to GM’s decline. So yeah, i agree with the BHO — We don’t get a handle on health care costs, we’re going down the toilet.
Love all the wingnut interpretations of the quote, though.

Enough said. We don’t want Bess to break Greg’s record.

  79. Posted by Harshy | June 15, 2009 at 2:10 PM

@77 That was because of the socialist priests that required those specific animals for sacrifice. Besides, hating on other free-market people is a prerequisite for being a free-marketer.

  85. Posted by guest | June 15, 2009 at 2:21 PM

@86- it took her 3 days (same amount as greg, fri/sat/sun) to get to where he is now, 319, and then beat him by thirty. http://dealbreaker.com/2008/12/advice-to-our-hedge-fund-frien.php#comments

    1) You don’t have to be a Christian to understand the Bible.
    2) What do you think the money changers were selling if they weren’t selling animals for sacrifice?

  88. Posted by guest | June 15, 2009 at 2:27 PM

    @87
Greg’s not done yet. Plus she did it from Wednesday to Friday, much easier to do.
    suck it.

  89. Posted by guest | June 15, 2009 at 2:28 PM

89 you are missing the basic points… were the money changers thrown out of His house or not? Doesn’t matter what they were selling; the problem was that they were selling in a temple.

  90. Posted by guest | June 15, 2009 at 2:28 PM

Jesus would be a Democrat – I mean socialist.

  91. Posted by guest | June 15, 2009 at 2:33 PM

92 correct. The point is the Democrats actions of empathy, compassion are more Christ-like. Amazing, shocking that the Republicans somehow has the media convinced they are the more Christ-like party. Nope…the fact is the Republicans are the modern-day Pharisees that persecuted Christ.

  92. Posted by guest | June 15, 2009 at 2:33 PM

Greg was spawned from Hitler’s anus.

  93. Posted by Harshy | June 15, 2009 at 2:38 PM

@91 You must have a different interpretation of “den of robbers” than I do. There is nothing wrong with selling animals for people to sacrifice. They are sold at the Temple to ensure they meet cleanliness requirements. Jesus’s problem was that they were robbing people by charging prices way over what is fair, the priests enabled it, and people were getting filthy rich off a necessary religious practice.
@92 I’m not sure how to interpret that: nice work!

  94. Posted by Porker Stankleberry | June 15, 2009 at 2:38 PM

    @72 – my bad, sorry.

  97. Posted by guest | June 15, 2009 at 2:45 PM

95, no you might have a different interpretation of free-markets than I do. Firms set prices, not at cost, but at people’s willingness to pay. Charging people way over what was fair = above the firms cost of capital.

  98. Posted by Harshy | June 15, 2009 at 2:48 PM

@93 Jesus didn’t steal money from the rich to promote social agenda.

  99. Posted by Harshy | June 15, 2009 at 2:51 PM

  100. Posted by guest | June 15, 2009 at 2:51 PM

@90- yes, but the comments on BL’s post were actually in reference to the post, and not just “you suck greg” or iterations of “anus.”

  101. Posted by guest | June 15, 2009 at 2:53 PM

100, true but Jesus did say it is difficult, but not impossible, for the rich to enter Heaven. Repent.

  102. Posted by guest | June 15, 2009 at 2:58 PM

101 you need to work on your critical thinking skills. You are almost there, though. Re-read the post, think about it, and I’m sure we will post again.

Yeah this is db– one liners only

  111. Posted by guest | June 15, 2009 at 3:21 PM

@103, Actually what was said is that it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for the rich to enter heaven.
Jesus wouldn’t have been a free-marketer or a socialist…he was a carpenter. More like an engineer than a businessman, but definately not a politician. Render under Caesar what is due to Caesar, but render under God what is due to God.
Also, the reason the moneychangers were indeed thrown out of the temple for selling in the house of The Lord. It was about disrespect, not the point of running business.
Jesus was all about helping out your fellow man, without taking something in return up front or later down the road.

  113. Posted by Porker Stankleberry | June 15, 2009 at 3:33 PM

@109: Hannity’s inability to have a philosophical debate has nothing to do with a lack of education. He’s a high-function retard.
    College wouldn’t fix that.

  114. Posted by guest | June 15, 2009 at 3:46 PM

@113: They don’t really give more; they’re just cheating on their taxes…

  115. Posted by guest | June 15, 2009 at 3:53 PM

    @113
But considering as charity paying the salary of your preacherman is not a good idea of charity. Exclude all donations to religious congregations (from both liberal and conservatives) and you’ll find that liberals actually give more to real charities than conservatives do. So there.
All you can say is that conservatives give proportionately more money to their religious congregations than liberals do. So who cares? Religion is a tax free business in the USA. That’s why I ordered my minister certificate through the mail last week. I will become a preacherman for the Church of the First Day Saints.

  116. Posted by Harshy | June 15, 2009 at 4:01 PM

    @117
Religious congregations provide numerous services to the community that improve the life of the community. Mental health, food pantries, after-school programs, family counseling and other services besides the emotional benefits of corporate worship. They should be the service providers that socialists want the government to take care of.

  118. Posted by guest | June 15, 2009 at 4:16 PM

    @118
Since I donate my expensive skills to such community organizations run by Catholic nuns (e.g. food pantries and soup kitchens, training job seekers, etc.), I can tell you without reservation that the vast majority of funds come from private donors (individuals and corporations). The congregations have barely enough money to stay afloat as their own administrative costs are ovewhelming them and can’t give much to the community organizations that they should sponsor. And private donations are drying up because of the economy.

Every time I see this I am reminded of President Obama and why we should appreciate that there is something only a man like him can do for us all……..
    Yes we can!

@120 If Obama cuts wealthy tax deductions, the big primary donors won’t be supporting as much as they do even now. Thank you for using your skills for something more than financial gain.

@40 – Interesting concept, but don’t you think the “body mass index” would be a better tool? A 5′ woman who weighs 140 lbs pays a lot less under your plan than a 6’2″ man who weighs 180 lbs, but she is definitely fatter. BMI has been correlated with specific health problems, like diabetes and stroke. Some US medical insurance companies charge a surcharge to patients with higher BMI’s, which is a variation of your plan.

Americans pay more and get less than any other advanced country. How does that make private healthcare more efficient? How can you have a good system when doctors, lawyers, insurers and medical companies are all dedicated to extracting as much as possible from peoples pain & suffering?

Hmmm, Barry’s showing a bit of desperation, don’t you think? Kinda early in the cycle for that. Unless he knows it’s dead alereay.
    Which it is.
Maybe he’s not so dumb after all.
    wait, what am I saying?

127 you’re a dumb fuck. You expect Barry to solve this healthcare fiasco -decades in the making- in six months. Your others presidents failed to make any meaningful dent in the healthcare debate over the course of their entire presidency. Unlike Iran, in the US Congress does not have to do what the President says or wants. In the US, we call this the system of checks and balances, you idiot. So yes, expect compromises and revisions over the next few months- the shrewd politicians are pragmatic, and recognize compromise is necessary to push these complex issues forward. Barry began as a legislator- he gets this. That’s why Barry is the One.
