Pang Took $83 Million From Firm, Filing Says (WSJ)
The court-appointed temporary receiver over Mr. Pang‘s former company, Private Equity Management Group Inc., also revised his estimate of potential losses by investors, saying they could range from $287 million to $654 million. The latter figure would represent a loss of nearly 80% of the $823 million still owed to investors. And here’s a new pic of DP, leaving federal court:

UBS Expects Second Quarter Loss (WSJ)
Don’t shed tears for the Swiss just yet, though, because they’re entirely okay with this, as the figure, while not good, is better than previous quarters, and represents “a sequential improvement.”

Death spurs Michael Jackson album sales

And why not? He totally does not seem like the type that would make a run for it. Oh wait, that’s exactly what he seems like. (Re: GPS monitoring system, Big Al would find away around it.)

Volcker Gets Less Than He Wants in Curbing Excesses
(Bloomberg)
“After the inauguration and Geithner’s confirmation, Volcker was elbowed aside, White House insiders say. His economic recovery board took weeks to get off the ground — a delay people close to Volcker say he blames on Larry Summers…The biggest obstacle to Volcker’s reform agenda is Summers, Volcker’s friends say.”

Jack (And Suzy) Welch Says Bernanke Deserves A Second Term

J Dubs also added that the Fed Chair deserves some sort of teaching gig at Jack Welch’s Online School Of Business, either as a full-time or adjunct professor.
Not So Green Shoots, By Maria Bartiromo (CNBC)
And it continues: From my vantage point, I have trouble buying into the whole idea of green shoots. I know the market itself has bounced, but people I talk with everywhere I go are still feeling squeezed financially.

Didn’t Greg cover most of this yesterday? With the excecption of Danny Pang?

@3 greg covered none of this, but thanks for playing, gm’s mom.

Micheal Jackson was, IMHO, thrust into the spotlight too early without a healthy family to keep him sane. I personally thank God my two wonderful daughters are exceptional but under the radar. MJ’s life seems to be another confirmation of the adage “Whom the gods would destroy, they first make successful”. RIP

  6. Posted by guest | June 26, 2009 at 7:56 AM

gm’s mom@3 all i’ll give you is that gm said the japs were “set” to sanction citi, but not what specifically, which came through this morning. other than that, he covered none of this. but you are a beautiful woman.

MJ was a pedophile freak. Stop with all the teary tributes.
Now losing Ed McMahon is a tragedy.

Thank you! Nauseating wathing all the gushing on TV – a sick, drug addled pedofile is dead. So he had a good voice at some stage in his life. Mao swam well and Dahmer probably played the flute or something.
MJ was one sick, evil person. We should be happy he is gone, could not have happened soon enough.

  13. Posted by guest | June 26, 2009 at 8:10 AM

@12/9 it’s not your fault. it’s not your fault.

    Quouting Maria B:
“According to the most recent statistics, stimulus efforts added $44 billion to Americans’ after-tax income in April while household savings increased three times that much…”
Um, I must be lax in my account reconcilliations but I never saw any of that stimulus money hit any of my bank accounts, did you? Where is Maria B. getting this figure of $44B hitting any taxpayers account?

  15. Posted by guest | June 26, 2009 at 8:13 AM

I’ve deliberately not watched any TV so that I don’t have to listen to [or watch] the nauseating out pourings of ‘grief’
I know DB will stick to the plan and not deviate. That’s why I love Bess.

@10 – If you’re ever able to procreate, which I seriously doubt, since that would require you to:
1 – Find a woman who likes you
2 – Have sex with her (without her protecting herself through multiple layers of latex) and
3 – Actually have an erection and an ejaculation,
you are free to contact me and tell me how well your offspring are doing. Since I put the odds on 1 are 50:50, 2 are 10:90, and 3 are 1:99, I don’t expect to hear from you anytime soon.

  20. Posted by guest | June 26, 2009 at 8:36 AM

Does anyone else find the correlation between MJ’s death and his record sales strange? What’s the train of thought there? “He’s dead, so I’d better go buy his albums as quickly as possible.” Also, if you’re the type of person who responds that ardently to MJ’s death, don’t you probably already own all of his music? Discuss.

Confirmation of Michael Jackson’s death have come through – he died of food poisoning – he ate 12yr old nuts
Apparently Michael Jackson died in the children’s ward after having a massive stroke
Out of respect, McDonalds have released the Mc Jackson burger, 50 year old meat between 10 year old buns
Michael Jackson has had to cancel a few dates for the summer. timmy aged 6 and jonny aged 9 are said to be devastated.
The fact that he is now 99% plastic, rather than bury him, they’re going to melt him down & make Lego blocks so the kids can play with him for a change.
Jockeys at Belmont are going to wear black armbands out of respect for Michael Jackson who successfully rode more 3 year olds than anyone in living memory.
Jacko died of a heart attack this morning- shocked when he discovered that boyz II men was a band, not a delivery service

MCD is adding the McJackson burger.. 50 year old meat between two 12 year old buns.

  32. Posted by guest | June 26, 2009 at 9:03 AM

16 – Yeah because [Name Your Fund] was a big client to JPMorgan, we had a couple of kids who were a PM’s spoiled “exceptional” brats on our desk for a few weeks during the summer a few years ago.
They did nothing except talk on their cellphones & text message. They expressed no interest in what we did or the markets, and would only talk about Paris Hilton and Britney.
What a waste! Why should deadbeats like this be given such summer jobs, when there are thousands of more motivated kids who would kill for such a position and use it as a door into a banking career, rather than just see it as a few hundred bucks a week!
This shit still burns me up all these years later.

@34 that was sick but funny (and deserved, as kevinb is clearly a douche who blathers on about his “exceptional” children and his exceptional parenting, as evidenced by the fact that he didn’t make the same mistakes as Joe Jackson).

@28, really? Kevin comes logs in to a finance messageboard to make some banal amateur therapist evaluation of Freakshow’s family life and unbidden throws in a boast about his daughters, who, judging by their father, are almost certainly half-retarded and when rightly ridiculed for vomiting up such a bizarre non-sequitir brag about said mini-mongoloids, responds with: “You can’t get laid.” And you think Kevin is the winner?

    Pang. Done.
As for the dinner and the link, I still can’t recall reading how the whole datey/dinnery thing came about (though the passed out guy at Elaine’s probably killed any Drakar fantasies on Chasbo’s part).
As you can tell, I’m on the left Coast, so I’m not stalking either of you, I’m just really curious about the whole setup before you agreed to go to the restaurant, how the hell did that come to pass?
Seriously curious in a non-tabloid/newspaper/blogger kind of way.
Thanks for all your indulgences so far, I’m in awe of you. (edit: it sounded way too smarmy. Yes, worse than what I already wrote.)

  47. Posted by guest | June 26, 2009 at 10:18 AM

His death is very strange. He was in the whole financially, and his 50-year-old body probably wouldn’t have been able to finish this enormous world tour. You have to wonder if he and his team had those concerns in mind at the time of the Demerol injection…

  53. Posted by guest | June 26, 2009 at 2:42 PM

If you go back and read through the cases now that the dust has settled you’ll probably realize that chances of MJ actually having molested those 2 kids is pretty damn slim. They’re obviously money ploys.
In the first case the only evidence they even found was the kid’s claim to his father _after_ the father told the kid for like a year he was molested. Oh, and the kid was under _father-medicated_ SODIUM PENTATHOL at the time (he was a dentist). Hell I bet with enough sodium pentathol I could get half of you to swear you weren’t even guidos.
There is a reason these cases never resulted in a conviction, most of the people involved now admit there was never any evidence, and when the kid’s attorneys asked for $20mil in settlement MJs attorneys laughed and offered $100k. You don’t have MJs money and only counteroffer 100k if you’re guilty.
Oh, and he was white from vitiligo and lupus, idiots.
But, yes, he had a HUGE opiate addiction.

Who cares about Maria Bartiromo. Just like Michael Jackson haters on this post, unprofessional; no class.
