"I filed for Chapter Eleven. That's reorganization. That's not bankruptcy." Do you see the distinction? Also, Nails tells CNBC's Jane Wells, "I'm still making money in the stock market."

The more publicity for Dysktra the better for everyone else. I hope everyone realizes how toxic he is and nobody gets suckered into giving him money in the future.
Delusional, an out of control ego , and now broke. The only value he can provide is allowing us to watch a trainwreck in progress.

I like how on the filing he claims less than $50k of assets, yet he says he's still making money. I guess he not smart enough to know that if he is trying to hide assets he might want to keep his mouth shut.

Dear Lenny "Nails Barn Yard Animals" Dykstra,
$50k in assets against $10 million to $50 million in liabilities is what we call in the finance world, overleveraged. In this world, when the bank calls in margin, the fund generally gets liquidated.
In other words, your life is about to become very, very painful. Perhaps it is time to call that number for the truck driving school?

from moneyball:
“Billy [Beane] remembers sitting with Lenny in a Mets dugout watching the opposing pitcher warm up. ‘Lenny says, “So who’s that big dumb ass out there on the hill?” And I say, “Lenny, you’re kidding me, right? That’s Steve Carlton. He’s maybe the greatest left-hander in the history of the game.” Lenny says, “Oh, yeah! I knew that!” He sits there for a minute and says, “So, what’s he got?” And I say, “Lenny, come on. Steve Carlton. He’s got heat and also maybe the nastiest slider ever.” And Lenny sits there for a while longer as if he’s taking that in. Finally he just says, “Shit, I’ll stick him.” I’m sitting there thinking, that’s a magazine cover out there on the hill and all Lenny can think is that he’ll stick him.’”

@31 - If Dykstra had said that in 1972, then I would agree that he certainly was a dumba$$. But he probably made the statement ~1985/1986 when Carlton was being put out to pasture. So Dykstra = cocky rookie.

First sentence of the Wikipedia entry for Chapter 11:
"Chapter 11 is a chapter of the United States Bankruptcy Code, which permits reorganization under the bankruptcy laws of the United States."

Check out the article in the link above. It's a great read, including such Dykstra gems as:
"Two of our greatest presidents, Thomas Jefferson (filed several times) and Abraham Lincoln, were able to restructure their lives through bankruptcy and went on to do great things such as helping to establish the University of Virginia and abolishing slavery."

@34 - thanks for sharing. Bess, you should put this up on the front page as well.
I'm thinking, with Lenny's bankruptcy, foreclosure and divorce he is sounding a lot like the male version of Ruth Madoff. Perhaps those two should bunk together to save money on rent?
Posted by guest , Jul 09, 2009 4:39PM
sorry Nails, chapter 11 is still bankruptcy.
too bad JC isnt still around to adjudicate this question
Posted by guest , Jul 09, 2009 5:27PM
@32, that's a great quote. Steve Carlton, maybe one of the top three post war pitchers (with Seaver and Clemens being the other two) and Nails has never heard of him.
I don't care if it's 1986; that's like someone playing in 1998 not knowing who Nolan Ryan is.

Only $10K in assets? Me thinks dat Lenny is not counting all the cash he stashed offshore immediately prior to filing Chap 11.
Lenny is his own worst enemy.
