Someone's Going To Give Himself A Hernia

Part II

I'm Dennis Kneale, it is 8 o'clock on a Wednesday of the July 4th holiday weekend and the great recession is still over

I started this anti recession rant one week ago and I'll tell you every day another new indicator of hope emerges to bolster my contrarian call

This recession is ending right here right now

We've got a couple more encouraging numbers today and I'll get to them in a moment but first I gotta say, ouch!

Last night, on this show, I stirred up an angry hornets nest in the blogs

You know when I criticized their mean-spirited negativity and bashed them for hiding behind the cowardly cloak of anonymity

I called them dickweeds, a form of pondscum

They have howled with outrage across the blogosphere

Blog sites like Dealbreaker, Gawker, Huffington Post, Business Insider, Zero Hedge, Annuity IQ and more have incited an online mob to rush to their defense

One result: when you enter my name into Google, 'dennis kneale cnbc' shows up first

In the number two position, rising w a bullet 'dennis kneale idiot' 14,000 entries and counting

Hundreds of posts went up today, some made veiled death threats, others issued more transparent calls for lesser violence

They're gonna "breaka my face," and "give me good wuppin'"

On Dealbreaker there was this: "DK needs to be put in a burlap sack and beaten with reeds"

Thanks for that

And then there's this one on Gawker: a sly reference comparing me to Beaker the Muppet: "his mouth is moving but all I hear is meep meep meep"

Funny stuff guys

Apparently they see a resemblance between me and Beaker

I gotta say frankly i think i look more l like Dexter or Dilbert

Here's an erudite post in Business Insider blog: "Kneale is functionally retarded"

I haven't heard that since like sixth grade

I also gotta say, way too many homoerotic and anti-gay comments

What is wrong with you guys?

Are you still ten years old and bullying kids on the playground?

But, this bitter backlash has given me pause

Maybe I painted with too broad a brush?

Perhaps I was unduly harsh?

And then it came to me: No I wasn't!

I'm not sorry at all!

I meant every word of it!

I don't bother reading the vitriol spewing out from these miscreants and digital imbeciles
but apparently they're watching me

Nanny nanny boo boo

Bloviating bloggers and their complainers: I welcome their complaint and dissent

But I gotta ask: why are they so threatened by holding out a little hope?

Take pride Bess! Which blog was mentioned first; which blog's comment was displayed on the screen first? Well done everyone.

@3 Agreed. I'm waiting for him to start mentioning Bess by name.

First blog mentioned!! Woot Woot! Way to go Bess. If only Carney could see you now.

I am sure his audience is vast at 8PM. Is he beating Danny's "Big Idea"? Faber generally manages to keep himself above the fray but I really think at 7PM they should just throw on some more repeats of "To Catch a Predator". Stooges.

Dennis how about that jobs number today? Thats reassuring right?

11

The best part is he's quoting from the comments section (of DB, gawker, Business Insider)

12

Posted by guest , Jul 02, 2009 9:25AM

Dennis,

Did I say "functional retard"? I meant mind numbingly ill-informed autofellating hack journalist.

I work at a firm of roughly 250 employees - over 15 TVs on this floor alone ...we offically turned to Bloomberg from CNBC firmwide 6 months ago b/c of this kind of crap. Whether he is right or wrong - this kind of cult of personality, ego stroking adds zero value. ZERO. Need news and information, not ranting editorializing. CNBC's internal political power struggles are apparently forcing their employees to feel like they need to act the fool to get ahead. When they moved from news and information to entertainment we turned it off. Maybe the retail investors at home dig it - but I doubt it.

26

This guy is the biggest embarrassment to come out of CNBC and that's saying something.

27

How about today's encouraging numbers, dumbass?

28

Posted by InfiniteGuest , Jul 02, 2009 9:38AM

Does Beaker know what a recession is? Maybe that's the issue here.

29

Posted by guest , Jul 02, 2009 9:38AM

what he fails to get is that people are attacking him for his idiotic call. disliking the douche is just an added bonus.

30

The death spiral of CNBC. Fire half of the clowns please. I refuse to watch any of their programming. Its embarassing and juvinile. Back to boring old bloomberg. :)

31

@16-KD would love nothing more than to see his ugly mug on TV spouting unfounded conspiracy theories right and left.

Other than that, why give either one of these bozos any more attention?

They need to shake-up the casting crew over at CNBC. Whoever hired/promoted this guys needs to go. Alongside a number of others, he completely ruins the CNBC brand, something programming managers should be concerned about... Again, this is the problem of having no real competition (anyone see Idiocracy?)

37

Posted by guest , Jul 02, 2009 9:45AM

@36 agreed, he's awful. he's so god damn abrasive on Power Lunch, but in a completely embarrassing way, thinking it's entertainment. He'll literally attempt to take the other side of anything anyone says.

48

Why does DK fail to note that the comment that said "I'm gonna breaka his face" was signed "charlie gasparino"?

49

Posted by guest , Jul 02, 2009 9:54AM

CNBC has got to be in a tough spot now. I'm sure that when Bear and Lehman went down, their ratings were way up but they don't have anything to report now. People largely expect the market to be in some non-event trading range and sponsors have likely cut their budgets across the board.

I've never understood CNBC's model of news anchors interviewing with eachother as if they were experts or even market participants. I still won't tune in if even to see this guy act like a clown.

50

Posted by guest , Jul 02, 2009 9:54AM

I am pounding DK in the ass and all he can say is "Meep meep meep." A little more passion would be nice, Mr. Kneale.

54

Posted by guest , Jul 02, 2009 9:58AM

@53 that's what they do during the day but this so much worse. DK is spewing absolute GARBAGE that is in no way entertaining. I doubt you could find a single person that would take his side in this "battle."

Did anyone catch the Campagnola reference in the ZH's previous response? Could Tyler Durden have been the third wheel on Bess and CG's date and if so, did CG drop rohypnol into TD's shirley temple to take advantage of Bess?

@67 whatever you want to call it, you're still watching his clips and following these posts. the guy is riding his "credentials" to the ground and he's taking unsophisticated investors with him. but then again, isnt that CNBC's mantra anyway?

73

Posted by guest , Jul 02, 2009 10:10AM

Dennis, from wiki:

Jumping the shark is a colloquialism coined by Jon Hein and used by TV critics and fans to denote the point in a TV show or movie series' history where the plot veers off into absurd story lines or out-of-the-ordinary characterizations. This usually corresponds to the point where a show with falling ratings apparently becomes more desperate to draw in viewers. In the process of undergoing these changes, the TV or movie series loses its original appeal. Shows that have "jumped the shark" are typically deemed to have passed their peak.

74

Posted by guest , Jul 02, 2009 10:10AM

@72 DK makes the gang at CNBC look good.

75

Posted by guest , Jul 02, 2009 10:12AM

77

@65 He made a point of this trend about six weeks ago. This may be his push. I don' think anyone has attributed anything factually inaccurate to him. It's not wrong to state an opinion that Dennis Kneale is an idiot. And the donkeyballs stuff is right out of Falwell v. Hustler.

@13: i trade / work from home. i've stopped watching most of cnbc because of kneale.

talked with a friend of mine who is on a trading desk in nyc; they turned off cnbc completely because they were sick of having two or four (or more) idiots on at the same time yammering back and forth.

according to my friend (which i mainly agree with), the only ones worth being on the air are santelli and cashin. i'd add haynes and faber to the mix, and the squawk box crew isn't terribly annoying.

and, i've just now shut off cnbc for the day. weekend starts shortly!

Where most grown men have some sense of pride and self-respect in Dennis Kneale exists a black hole of ill-conceived thoughts and other assorted intellectual abortions so dense that they temporarily corrupt the very mental integrity of any level-headed passerby unfortunate enough to be exposed to his sputtering.

Wait wait wait wait wait...Hi Dennis, Vitriol Spewing Miscreant and Digital Imbecile here, riddle me this: you don't bother reading what we right, yet you devote an entire segment to us and quote us. How does that work you knob gobbling muppet wannabe. Yes we're watching you, you an idiot and provide wonderful ammunition for us to make fun of you while you try in vain to come off as intelligent while spewing incompetence. Yet you are obviously watching us as well, do you really think your viewers are that dumb, you must not have a high regard for their intelligence if you can say with a straight face that you don't read any of what they say, immediately following quoting them. Either way though, it appears we have hurt your feelings, so on behalf of all of us Vitriol Spewing Miscreants and Digital Imbeciles (I fancy myself more of connoisseur of Miscreancy and Vitriol, but you say it's only semantics)...Go fuck yourself.

Two things

1. This makes me respect CG a little because, despite our brutal ridicule, he has remained himself. He did not pull and Kneale and start crying. You can tell Kneale was never any cool because the minute he gets made fun of he freaks out. Anyone with any real life experience is used to be ripped on by all his friends. Obviously, Kneale is experiencing this phenomenon for the first time. He is such a nonner.

2. Kneale has given a rusty trombone to an 11 year old, smooth Thai boy

@113- your sister walked into the bar last night when I was drunk and pissed off. The ensuing tijuana crimescene was spectacular.

The smartest comment I've heard from Kneale was during a CNBC interview (for an off air reporter) I did a year ago after I left Trader Monthly and hadn't started writing for the New York Post yet. He turned off his mike, looked me in the eye, and lowered his voice so his Power Lunch crew couldn't hear us.
And basically said "Stay in print. Business TV is just sound bits, you can't get the whole story out - really nail down the facts in the time they give us. And most of these TV reporters don't really care- they just think there job is to find a headline and make it sound good."

Advice I now completely agree with.

So why doesn't Dennis go back to print? So many main-street pubs are dying to score editors with financial news experience. I'm going to assume it's the paycheck.

Sorry if this has been mentioned in past commentary.

Has anyone else noticed that the name for his BS platform is blatantly stolen from a far more prestigious (although fictional) news commentary.

Phil Hartman is probably rolling over in his grave at this slandering of "The Real Deal with Bill McNeal"

@13-15 Completely agree. Look no further than this exchange with another CNBC douche, CG: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jjhrtclvixw

What kind of journalist holds up a show to ask one of his colleagues for a fucking apology? Examples like this one abound...

@29 I actually disagree. I think intelligent people can disagree (within reason) about the state of the economy. I think most people are pilling on Dennis because he's an idiot, a douche, and a sorry excuse for a journalist.

@68

Bess's date with Gasbagarino was chaperoned by an MSNBC tough guy named Keith Olbermann. It was really tense for a while and they had to call the cops in the middle of it as fists were starting to fly. But Keith is not Tyler Durden, Mr. Zero Hedge, though he also likes the character in the movie.

This is NOT professional television. CNBC Reports is getting more ratings with what DKneale is going to say about the 'blogosphere' than what happened in Wall Street that day. It's better to put a rerun of Deal or No Deal than CNBC Reports now. I had high hopes for this show but now its purpose is useless. DK is better off in Power Lunch. Did he really get into it with one of the hosts??? Why is he not on there anymore? This is worst than the Cramer blowup. Is this what CNBC is all about?

#12, "I meant mind numbingly ill-informed autofellating hack journalist."

Hey, auto-fellation, or phellation as we in the Society like to call it, is a highly developed skill. Don't give him credit for it. He has to have his pool boy do the job.

DK - it is juvenile to call you names and threaten you. I don't need to. Put simply, I think you have no idea what you are talking about on TV. I've seen you numerous times on CNBC and always wonder how you got hired and how your interviewees don't laugh in your face with your ridiculous questions. I get nothing out of watching you. So, when you come on the tube, I tune out. Incidentally, how many people are called "functionally retarded" at any time in their lives - sixth grade or otherwise? Finally, yes, I agree you look more like Dilbert.
