Sources tell Cityfile that the (relative) widow has been bunking in Hewlett, Long Island, at the home of her niece, Diane Hochman. Diane is the daughter of Ruth’s sister Joan, and her husband and father worked for you know who until it turned out the business was a scam. So that’s gotta be awkward, but perhaps Ruthskie is making amends by cooking dinner and making beds? In related news below is an interior shot of the 1-bedroom Mrs. Mades is considering purchasing in the Bronx.

I like how Bess keeps making the location of the 1 br progressively worse. Spanish Harlem, now the Bronx. What’s next?

Hochman put her house up for sale ten days after Bernie was arrested and recently lowered the price. Her husband, Seth, took over the Madoff insurance account from his father-in-law when he retired. His father-in-law is Robert D. Roman, husband of Joan Alpern Roman, Ruth’s only sister.

I know a busybody in that neighborhood who knows Hochman. I’ll see if I can get a confirmed sighting.

For those of you that are not in NY, the Bronx thing is a joke, as in the condo on 90th St is so far north it may as well be the Bronx. Re the s!!thole comment, those blinds, track lights and phony parquet floor are SOP in the typical “luxury” apartment. Our version of a double wide – the kind of place most people wind up in: its clean, safe and, hey, its home. Sad but true.

I remember from college, the sluttiest girls were from Hewlett. They taught this Jersey boy everything he knows. Jusy sayin.

  21. Posted by guest | July 9, 2009 at 3:39 PM

I would stick a light bulb in her and put her in the garden.

@ 11, u obviously never been near Hartford

  23. Posted by guest | July 9, 2009 at 3:45 PM

has the IRS started paying the rebates for taxes paid on phantom Madoff profits?

  24. Posted by guest | July 9, 2009 at 3:51 PM

I’m sorry, are you debating the fact that Hartford is a shithole?

  25. Posted by guest | July 9, 2009 at 3:51 PM

    @ 25, how exactly is it a sh1thole?

  26. Posted by guest | July 9, 2009 at 3:56 PM

Yea, I have, not a lota time but enough, coupled with one of my best friends who went to school there (poor kid), I can say there is a “hood” in/near hartford.

  28. Posted by guest | July 9, 2009 at 4:45 PM

Oh, boy. I just told the nosiest person in Hochman’s neighborhood that Ruth is supposedly there. One problem w/confirmed Ruth sightings – Diane Hochman apparently looks just like her aunt.

  29. Posted by guest | July 9, 2009 at 4:51 PM

29 Identifying the nosiest person in Hewlett is like naming the woman with the biggest tits in Scores. They’re all yentas there. (In Hewlett, not Scores).

  30. Posted by guest | July 9, 2009 at 5:27 PM

30 LOL – You’re probably right but she’s the only yenta I know in that neck of the woods and she’s pretty darned nosy. Tee hee. Ruth in the hood is BIG news!
Bulletin by 7 p.m. is my estimate.

  31. Posted by guest | July 9, 2009 at 6:58 PM

7 p.m. bulletin: The yenta I know called someone she referred to as one of the town’s biggest yentas and she knew nothing about Ruth staying at Diane’s. The two of them are beside themselves over this shocking turn of events and they cannot fathom why Diane would let her aunt set foot in her house.
The upshot is that my yenta is going to drive by Diane’s this evening to see what’s going on. She has a phone call into one of Diane’s neighbor but the neighbor isn’t home yet. She promised to send an update later this evening.

  32. Posted by guest | July 9, 2009 at 7:32 PM

7:01 p.m. bulletin: There isn’t a single vehicle on Diane’s block. The “for sale” sign is still out which means the house is still on the market.

  33. Posted by guest | July 9, 2009 at 9:39 PM

9:30 p.m. bulletin: My contact realized she drove down the wrong street earlier this eveing so she took another drive and this time she is sure she went down Diane’s block. No vehicles were on this street either. The “for sale” sign has been taken down so CityFile was probably right when it claimed the house was taken off the market. My contact had an interesting take on this in that if Ruth lives with the Hochmans and pays rent, the money might enable the Hochmans to keep their home. (Jeez, what a tradeoff.) Hopefully, my contact’s friend who is also a friend of Diane’s will return my contact’s phone call tomorrow. Stay tuned for more bulletins tomorrow.

    @34
    Really care.

  35. Posted by StillNoCouch | July 10, 2009 at 1:41 AM

    I think enough is enough.
    Did she know ? Surely.
Will she be eventually charged ? Surely.
Will she do time ? Surely.
But, have some modicum of decency here.
I’m not crying in a bed-sheet with mascara running down my face for her, but have some decency.
Posting what (for the more computer literate among us) equates to an address … based on a rumor is inexcusable.
Dare I ask, what if your information is wrong ? Off by one number ? You bring holy-hell down on someone you’ve never met and likely do a significant amount of damage to them.
I think it’s irresponsible and shameful.
I loves me some ‘Bess’ … but this went too far.
It’s not funny. It’s not witty.
    It’s phucking dangerous.
    P.S.
@Bess: Would you like me to post a map to your home? I think you’ve overstepped the bounds of reason here … you appear to have dodgy information, yet are unwittingly targeting folks at random. Even though you didn’t post the address, per se … it doesn’t take long for some of us to find it.

  36. Posted by guest | July 10, 2009 at 2:50 AM

an aerial shot of three track houses in a town that has almost exclusively those models (I’m from the same county on LI) is posting a map? no, and get over yourself. nobody’s showing up at the god damn door. and if it’s “dodgy” information, then they won’t be able to find her, now will they? this post was in no way “dangerous” though spelling “fucking” with a ph is fucking gay.

  37. Posted by guest | July 10, 2009 at 9:48 AM

The Madoff client list, released by the trustee and widely available online, provides the addresses of the Hochmans and other Madoff relatives. Unfortunately for Ruth, a lot of people are keeping an eye on her including the NY Post. Last night on the 11 p.m. news, Chuck Scarborough did a story w/video on the apartment Ruth is supposedly interested in. If Ruth thought she would have privacy in Hewlett, she is nuts. My contact put half of Hewlett on RuthWatch last night.

  38. Posted by guest | July 10, 2009 at 9:55 AM

@36 The computer literate among us know the Feds told the AP last week they are not going to charge Ruth criminally so take your Surelys and stick ‘em where the sun don’t shine.

  39. Posted by guest | July 10, 2009 at 10:58 AM

So did anyone see her in Hewlett? Gonna be out there this weekend and would love to stop by if she is!

  40. Posted by guest | July 10, 2009 at 1:19 PM

My contact on the scene just informed me that all remains quiet in Hewlett. Updates to follow as they become available.
