On Monday Ruth Madoff got her passport back which will come in handy when the old girl moves all the way up to East 90th Street. The Post reports that Ruthskie’s real estate broker was spotted checking out a 1-bedroom, 481 square foot condo in the Trafalgar House. The place would cost Mrs. Bernie $465,000 plus a ton in renovations (the floors need to be refinished, the ceiling is missing chunks of plaster, the walls are scuffed and the kitchen features Formica counters), assuming the building’s residents don’t block her from moving in, which it sounds like they might (“Oh, my God, that would be so horrible,” one resident was overheard saying. “We don’t want that tension in here”). With only $2.3 million to live on, it’s one of the few places within her price range, but there won’t be much left in the way of spending money, so she will be relying on a gentleman caller to cover dinner/nights out. Sign up now, and be the first to take her to the local White Castle.

$465,500 will buy you >500 square feet in NY? Is it just me or has the world gone mad?
She shoud be getting more liek 600sf for that price at todays market. more if the condition description is accurate. Still insane valuations by any standard. i’m waiting for prices to stabilize at the 500-550/sf level.
she can move in with me, but it’s gonna cost her.
I would let her live in my parent’s house with me if she would let me pound her in the ass while eating KFC’s new baked chicken.

Why even bother for 481 sq ft? Why would she even stay in Manhattan? This can’t be true.
It’s always a good time to buy. Rates have never been this low! Always buy as much as you can in the best neighborhood you can. They don’t make real estate anymore you know! And I am seeking treatment for a Brasso rash that I developed from swinging around a brass pole at my second job.

@4 KFC’s new chicken is grilled..not baked…idiot
@6 really? where do you think she’s gonna go, staten island?
@8 – I bake it myself, fat boy. Now please return to the back office.
@6 — Agreed. Her money would buy a lot more in Florida. Not as if she needs to be near her sons.
She could move up to Westchester and watch what ‘little’ she has left disappear, rapidly, as property taxes.
NY State Sucks ass. Why does anyone live in the $hit hole?
they don’t want her in Florida any more than they do in NY
@12 b/c she’s lived in new york state all her life and is most likely, at the age of 60+ not going to make a change? are you really that dumb?
Ma Baily’s Boarding House in Bedford Falls has a room open
@ 14
do you really think moving into a sh*thole studio is not going to be a change? This is nuts! How does someone with no income or potential of future income sitting on a measly $2.3 mil decide to live in Manhattan? or any densely populated area? Shes like a retired NFL player…80% chance to be broke within 2 years.
of course it’s going to be a change but it’s still manhattan and guaranteed she’d rather be in a one bedroom on the ues than a two family house in east bumblefuck.
I want baked grilled chicken now, too. I am so tungry.
Deep in New Jersey Horsecountry…
Please tell me she will become a bar fly at Kinsale. She is a huge hurling fan I know- has had a setanta subscriptions for years…
@14 whatever, dude.
- @12
- not @16
She should take the $465k and buy a 481-sq-ft house on ack next to her douchey sons. Mid-island, of course.
@ 19 and we have a winner
This is the exact same article as Daily Intel, but half an hour later. Come on.
22- please punch yourself in the balls every time you type “ack”. Leap in front of a cab immediately if you have ever said it out loud.
Sincerely,
Everyone on Nantucket that doesn’t fit in better in Westhampton
@24 actually, the only thing that’s “the exact same” about it is that it’s from the nyp article. also, basically every post from daily intel about finance is ripped from db. come on.
@24, let’s see, daily intel’s take was that she should’ve moved to europe but was staying close by. db’s was that she’s practically moving to another continent by moving to e. 90th. yeah, totally the exact same post. moron.
Far Hills, NJ
@18 – tunger is a dangerous thing. Get that taken care of immediately.
28- no way she can play paddle tennis or ride a horse.
The tunger is strong in that one.
@5….. Awesome~!
@15 There’s a number of foreclosures in Potter’s Fields. I think she’d do better to buy in the long run.
First tunger, then poker.
Depending on how east she goes that may be carnegie hill…used to live there, had no idea there was a white castle, I was too afraid to pass 96th
@35 it’s 120 E. 90th Street ie between park and lex.
$.99 does more…words to live by Ruthie…
Spanish Harlem?!? I thought 90-96th streets was called Yuppie Harlem.
She’s crazy to stay in Manhattan..ooo, she’s lived here all her life…who cares, not like she has any family or friends she needs to stay near and she can’t afford the luxuries Manhattan has to offer
And just how are they going to block her from moving in? In a condo, the association has only the right of first refusal, meaning it can buy the apartment from the seller, for the price that Ruth agreed to. And its not likely that they have the money to do so – esp a middling place like the Trafalgar. Remember this next time someone says a condo is better than a co-op.
Looks like Ruth moved into an Ikea showroom in Red hook
To the NY haters: people pay big bucks to live here either to be close to a well paying job or because theres a lot to do here. Ruth falls into the second category. She could in fact live in Florida for 1/3 the cost, but would be spending her days doing basically nothing. Plus, when you factor in the cost of a car, which you don’t need here, the gap narrows significantly. Which is why Manhattan is actually a very popular place to retire to.
Far Hills, NJ
@42, she does not fall into that category because that requires some type of $$$$

Tunger and Poker. HaHaHa. The best.

“Everyone on Nantucket that doesn’t fit in better in Westhampton”
BTW, the word “who” should be used instead of “that” in your closing. TGFD sees entirely too much of this type of barbaric butchery of the language here on DB.
The Guy from Delaware
She’s probably staying in Manhattan to be closer to Bernie’s cell for their dry hump conjugal visitation sessions. Ah, romance.
@45 – Are you from Delaware? Wanna meet in Dewey Beach and fuck each other?

44 Put on your financial planner hat. Lets say she spends $100K on renovations, she will have $1.8 million remaining. At her age, a 3.5% withdrawal rate is sustainable. That gives her income of $63,000, add social security and she gets ~$90,000. Not a fortune, but with a paid for apartment, can support a very decent lifestyle. No Le Cirque five nights a week, but still decent. Probably puts her at the 92nd percentile of American earners.

TGFD doesn’t go to Dewey anymore. That place is a f’n swillhole.
The Guy from Delaware
@49 you sound like my girlfriend.
I’d like to beat @50 to death with TOGFD’s frozen corpse.
- the night stalker
all you ‘tards calling it a “measly $2.3 million” should just STFU. I bet very very few of you have a net worth approaching that.
Ruthie was very lucky the feds didn’t striop her down to her granny panties and leave her with just SSI and medicaid.
NAS K boi@#53…
How true, indeed.
NightStalker@#52…Impressive, but lame.

Dear Ruth,
Today’s newspapers carried so few stories of me; it’s great to know I’m out of the limelight. I’m learning to like bacon…
sure, there are some strange goings-on in here, but it’s all tolerable so far. What’s new with you?

Best,
Bernie
@53 I make that in a bad quarter… go back West Virginia……..
@56 You must not be an MD yet…. I make that in a bad month……
34 FTW!
@49 – Or, Ruth-less can buy a doublewide and a lot outside in Middletown, NY for $12k, invest the remaining $2.2+M with her two soon-to-be indicted sons and live on slim jims and malt liquor for the rest of the short life…. That would be a more fitting financial plan for her….
i wouldnt mind meeting at the beach for a little fun
The Gay from Delaware
This article would be more interesting if she was moving in ABOVE 96th Street.
Below 96th she can still claim she is white, above 96th Street she’s an albino Puerto Rican.
@61- after living on east 64th in a penthouse for the last decade, a one bedroom on 90th is practically the Bronx.
481 Ft^2? I’d have to do her standing up.
@1 since when is 481 > 500??
Dude, The Villages is WHERE ITS AT RUTHIE!

Wouldn’t Florida be the best place, since they have laws to protect her little nest egg from lawsuits? I think the juice moved there before deciding to relocate to LV prison.
when the hell did East 90th become East HArlem? your 6-8 clocks shy!
