Giants.jpgSize-wise, Joseph Gregory is going to have to take a number in the Lehman collection line. Standing $70 million ahead of him is the New York Giants. Big Blue is looking for just over $300 million back for payments owed under interest rate swaps which ran into a slight problem when their counterparty collapsed. Between building a $1.6 billion stadium with the Jets, and shelling out close to $100 million for the third best quarterback in the Manning family, the Giants are not short on cash outflows. But they really have only themselves to blame. When you choose not to business with a firm that speaks your language and invites people to a huddle, sympathy is tough to come by.

Greg, can’t believe I’m writing this, this post was actually good. “third best quarterback”, “invites people to a huddle” – just the right amount of throwback.
I’m going to go shower now

Why is the WSJ re-hashing this now?

@1 ….kindly STFU. There is nothing wrong with “Standing $70 million ahead of him is the New York Giants.”
We make plurals “singular” for verb purposes over here all the time.

Greg – He’s actually the 4th best counting Cooper (middle brother). But I’m a huge Giants fan, so go fork yourself.

  7. Posted by Someone Literate | August 28, 2009 at 10:28 AM

@1/5 It’s singular because the New York Giants is a singular entity. Your humor, like your comment, is just stupid. Please be quiet and let the adults talk ok?

Well, That’ll pay for Eli’s new contract.

  9. Posted by guest | August 28, 2009 at 10:29 AM

I still can’t believe they gave mouth-breather $100MM. That’s money that could have been spent on a video board.

We have decided that the proper style is New! York~ Giant’s%.
    You will now all comply.

Greg, you are obviously bitter that Eli didn’t text you the next morning

    Who would you take?
    Justin Tuck or DeMarcus Ware

  15. Posted by guest | August 28, 2009 at 10:38 AM

1/5/7 — it’s the last line that’s the problem. “Business” is not a verb on this planet.

Inevitably the revenues from city coffers that are used to finance such entities like new stadiums will be unavailable, and these athletes will have to accept less money to play these games. I have spoken with my senator about this, and he assures me Eli Manning will soon be glory holing Dennis Kneale in Jersey City.

JG better not raise a fuss, if the Giants don’t get their money they’re gonna send LT after him…and we all know how that ends

  19. Posted by guest | August 28, 2009 at 10:41 AM

I’d like to buy a preposition please Pat.

  20. Posted by guest | August 28, 2009 at 10:42 AM

    14-
    Ware

  21. Posted by guest | August 28, 2009 at 10:42 AM

@14 Ware is an important piece…
but DT’s like Justin Tuck are the centerpiece of your defense. Tuck.

Where’s Bess? Waiting for the daily Drury pic.

  23. Posted by guest | August 28, 2009 at 10:43 AM

The Druries are adorned with some pearl necklaces. Perfect.

greg – this was quality, considering the fact that summer was replaced with shitty wet weather this week. i know those two have nothing to do with each other -i just needed the chuckle. at least end of summer = football.
    and @6 ftw

@22/23 I’m here. Was about to write about cows committing suicide in Switzerland but the triple strand pearl necklace IN the cleavage saved the day.

  27. Posted by guest | August 28, 2009 at 10:50 AM

@7….I am disgusted with you and your superior ways! What has happened to you? In fact, the last time you were “talking with adults” you were ordering a vibrating butt plug from Adam & Eve’s “shop by phone” service!

  28. Posted by guest | August 28, 2009 at 10:54 AM

Leave @7 alone!! All Giants fans talk like that. “We is the Giants!!’ “The Giants is coming to your house!!!”
So, in the UK, that is why they often say, “Arsenal are arseholes!!”

  29. Posted by guest | August 28, 2009 at 10:56 AM

    Good eye.

  30. Posted by guest | August 28, 2009 at 11:07 AM

Dipshit @7…..If it reads, “The New York Giants Football Organization” or “team” or “Club” you use the singular.
If it is just “New York Giants” you use “are”. Generally, such grammar is learned in elementary school.

  31. Posted by guest | August 28, 2009 at 11:24 AM

shouldn’t 1 have to learn to spell “painful” before she critiques grammar?

  32. Posted by Prime Brokerage Dude | August 28, 2009 at 11:31 AM

Bess – It’s not the cows’ fault thay they’ve been reading Greg’s posts.

    Greg -
When the medical technology allows it, I will get a horse cock implant and bone you to death with it.
