    @1, BB2N.
And Murdoch is an idiot if he thinks I’m paying for my news. Kankles expose’ aside, Newscorp produces nothing worth paying for.

Shapero? How do you screw up the SEC Chairman’s name when its in the quote you posted?

  6. Posted by wcburrs87 | August 6, 2009 at 7:53 AM

@3 – me too, but only because Alexander Hamilton was the man. But that instance really doesn’t matter because Murdoch owns both.

  7. Posted by guest | August 6, 2009 at 7:53 AM

William, a little spell check is in order. Ok, one typo, no probs, but you’ve got a couple there.

  9. Posted by guest | August 6, 2009 at 8:05 AM

Mary Schapiro wants industry funding for the SEC so she can break free of governmental pay limits. Its that simple. She had industry funding at FINRA and managed to carve a $3 million annual salary for herself for setting up one of the most ineffective and worthless regulatory and oversight organizations one could imagine. Anyone with any knowledge of the financial services industry knows just how much of a joke FINRA is. Just think, for $3 million/ year she will do the same to the SEC. No thanks, Mary. Keep your government paycheck. You aren’t even worth that.

Murdoch is certainly a better business man than I’ve ever been (I have almost but not quite zero experience) However, why exactly would I want to pay for the online garbage that his news outlets produce? I didn’t read that garbage when it was free – well, except by accident or via DB.
Does he think the far right wing nut jobs that spoon feed themselves from the tripe spewed out of FOX news are going to pay?

“I keep saying that the sexy job in the next 10 years will be statisticians,” said Hal Varian, chief economist at Google. “And I’m not kidding.”
Priceless – you’ve been doing fine work on the dawn patrol Mr. Richards.

  16. Posted by guest | August 6, 2009 at 8:24 AM

Statistician jobs are trivial to offshore. Good luck with that career path.

  17. Posted by guest | August 6, 2009 at 8:36 AM

Absolutely incredible that BAC shareholders have to fork over more money. How about clawing back the ill gotten gains from John Thain et al?!

    No.
    @10
YOu may not pay for FoxNews, but considering their utter dominance of cable news ratings, I’d bet someone will. I don’t really care for it myself, but i’m just sayin’.

    At the DB office.
    Greg: Bess, you’re back.
Bess: Greg, I’m surprised to see you here.
    Greg: You are?
BL: I though you would have taken the large office.
    GM: Oh. Really.
BL: I guess I didn’t make that clear when I hired you. So where’s that Pensky file? Let’s see what
you’ve been up to all week. (pages through the file)
What have you been doing all week?
GM: Well you missed a lovely little party that we had for EP.
BL: You haven’t done anything with this.
GM: Well bear in mind that I am in the smaller office.
BL: I’m beginning to wonder if you understand anything.
GM: You are aware that Cluster is interested in me.
BL: (scoffs) You’re not Cluster material.
GM: Well, we’ll just see about that. Ta-ta, Tut-tle.

@25. A doctor in statistics can easily make 250-400k a year (that’s 500-1mil in New York money, btw).
Where do you think health care and insurance profits come from anyway?

  30. Posted by guest | August 6, 2009 at 9:28 AM

@23…that was genius..thanks for alerting me!

  31. Posted by NakedShort | August 6, 2009 at 9:28 AM

@29 has it totally nailed. Actuaries can make a shit ton of money especially if they are upper level at insurance companies.

  32. Posted by guest | August 6, 2009 at 9:31 AM

The majority of statisticians are not actuaries.

  33. Posted by guest | August 6, 2009 at 9:35 AM

Actuaries are pussies that couldn’t make it on the buy side.
    Suck me, beautiful.

Who are you? Everyone who has read DB for even a few monthes knows EP is a woman. Must be a high schooler with nothing to do over the summer but visit blogs for grown ups. Get to Wal-Mart for their back to school sale on supplies, pick me up some BIC pens while you’re there.

Poor response. First note that I was not taking a position on whether EP is a male, a female or a tranny. FYI, I’ve been reading DB for years. I know a lot more than you think.
