rich rodriguez.jpgBernie had the dying of cancer rumor. Sir Allen had the overactive pulse. Now, with the methodology of ‘play the victim to take attention away from the crime’ well established, Michigan head football coach Rich Rodriguez is getting in on the game. Just days after U of M announced an investigation into player allegations that they were forced to train too long en route to a 3-9 record, the coach’s financial advisor, in response to a suit filed against Rodriguez, claims he was a victim of a Ponzi scheme.

The suit, filed last month in U.S. District Court in South Carolina, alleges that Rodriguez and several other partners owe a bank $3.9 million after they allegedly defaulted on a loan to build condominiums near Lane Stadium at Virginia Tech. The transaction was initiated before 2004, when Rodriguez coached at West Virginia.
“Coach Rodriguez is the victim of a fraudulent real estate Ponzi scheme that has unfortunately affected many Americans,” said his advisor, Mike Wilcox, in a statement released this morning by the University of Michigan athletic department. “Several other coaches and prominent individuals are involved in this transaction.”

If we’re getting a preview of things to come, this type of transparent trickeration is not going to make the Wolverines champions of the West.

@2, you could spice things up a little by linking to the video of you getting kicked in the gunt outside Denny’s.

Anal thought for today – Unless you believe we remain fixed to 18th or early 19th century ideas of the geographical center of the US, Michigan is not in the “west”. And the Michigan team is in the Big Ten which has eleven teams. Go figure.

Agreed, give Northwestern the boot and definitely tell Notre Dame to GFTO when they come crying in a few years after sinking $20mil on that lardass Weiss and are still 0-century

    @2- No.

  7. Posted by guest | September 1, 2009 at 4:44 PM

    @ 5
You mean the same Northwestern who has beaten three top 15 teams in the last four years on a fraction of the athletic budget that the other Big 10 schools have?
Or the Northwestern that won nine games last year and finished third in the Big 10?
You aren’t talking about that Northwestern, are you?

@5 – ND is an independent. They are not in the Big Ten, go back to your Commonwealth Coast Conference D III school.

I would be offended if I were a UM alum. Who would actually feel good about copying Princeton’s helmet design. Boners copying boners.

P.S. My Handbridge Capital gear arrived the other day. How are the numbers looking?

  16. Posted by trojan | September 1, 2009 at 5:21 PM

@10 ND is without a doubt the most consistently overrated team in the country. The only reason they get prime TV time is because every catholic gets a hard on dreaming he’s Rudy.
@7 yes the same northwestern that got embarressed by the buckeyes 45-10.
The only thing Rodriguez is good for is running 4-a-days.
    see you guys in Pasadena.

How’d that 2004 season turn out for you guys? Had a bit of a rough time in Evanston, did we? Still a little bitter?

actually a cursory glance at my name would inform you that my alma mater finished 2004 #1 after dismantling the sooners on national TV.

Michigan’s fight song contains the “of the West” reference because the Big Tenleven was called the Western Conference when it was formed. Admittedly an artifact of a bygone era, but not a claim that the school resides in the west.
