Or just Christmas for legacy Merrill employees? We just received the following tip:
No Christmas parties this year for ML offices.
And, obviously, I don’t want to believe it. Merrill did this last year, but that’s because, you know of the pesky matter of billion in losses. But now they should be all good in the hood and primed to partay, no? And why make the decision so soon? Even if the idea was being considered, why not string people on just a little longer? Does Feinberg have a role in this? Surely there’s a logical explanation, and if has to do with canceling Xmas in legacy ML offices so funds could be consolidated for Ken Lewis’s holiday party/send-off extravaganza, we have no problem with that.

Citi doesn't have any money left to conduct layoffs and pay severance. That's worse than not having holiday parties.

A couple of cases of Boones can't cost that much. C'mon KL share with the Merrill guys.

Just so that you finance people are aware, in our next thesaurus, we're adding an additional, new adjective for "legacy". It will be... "shitty".

@3 you're an idiot. @1 is brillant. BITD Merrill had a broker whose deeply Catholic wife would only put out for kids. He kept a string of tuna available at all times. One year when he was feeling particularly master of the universe he brought the girlfriend to the Christmas party. All the other wives' heads exploded. Shortly thereafter our wussy boss inserted a wife only rule unless legally single.

Charlotte's one bar closes at 9pm and citywide curfew is at 10pm - so why bother.

A forced congregation of people you don't want to hang out with guised under the shell of a company that it once was? Yeah, gotta be a shame not having to go to that...

No Christmas party, and a few weeks later the anniversary of the merger? ML employees needs some serious sad trombone action.
