The ranks of the elect are growing: Goldman Sachs has named 272 new managing directors.
Apotheosis for God’s chosen few is scheduled for New Year’s Day. Thereafter, it’s all milk, honey and million-dollar bonuses, but they’ve earned it, so sayeth the Prophet Blankfein.
Writeth the prophet in the e-mail announcing the promotions, the newly-minted MDs have richly earned their place in Heaven, for they are among the Blessed who helped preserve God’s bank during the late difficulties, and will “be integral to our service to clients, the strength of our reputation and the long-term success of the firm.”
Yea. Let their names be recorded in the Book of Life.

MD ain’t shit. P-MD is where it’s at.
Hall and other senior Phibro managers agreed to have “significant” portions of their current and future bonuses deferred and retained by Phibro and paid out in future years. The future payouts will be adjusted to reflect Phibro’s results, Occidental said.
Phibro, which trades oil, natural gas, metals and agricultural products, averaged roughly $200 million a year in pre-tax profit from 1997 until the second quarter of 2009. In the last five years, it’s been even more successful, earning $371 million a year, on average, according to Occidental.
Pre-tax, etc, etc . Phhhh. How many small groups are making better money for risk/per partner and that don’t need Citi’s “profile” money?
This is nothing compared to Primerica.
This is great news for my buddy the goldsmith. He’s got a sole-sourch contract for goldplating services with GS. Fantastic, handcrafted stuff. Every scrot one of a kind. Filigreed labias too.
haha filigreed labias ftw!
Question: If you shit in the forest does it still smell?

In announcing the promotions, LB was quoted as saying:
“Let there be 272 new disciples to spread The Word that the love of money is a root of all evil, and some whose hearts were fixed on it have been turned away from the faith, and been wounded with unnumbered sorrows.”
Please order 272 new Timex Ironman watches for the new kids, just like mine and Hank’s.
LB
@12 your shit smells?
LB
@12 not sure but i do know that if a fat girl falls in the forest the trees laugh
Guess there will 272 dudes getting a lot less in comp than they thought… with one hand I give and the other I take…
- GS Partner who still bangs his secretary
@18 GS took away employees’ ability to comment on DB, so you an imposter.
So, I have a real question. We have these 272 new MD’s. Does the number grow every year? Or does is stay somewhat stable?
It is like football, you know? You get all these rookies every year, but barely hear of anyone retiring, unless they are superstars, so I wonder if the number of MD’s grows with the size of the firm and the market or stays somewhat stable, growing very little each year, or even diminishing
Do partners need to work from the office? I am sure their pay will be nowhere close to mine.
