So it makes sense that they should be compensated accordingly. Not sure why this needs to be reiterated but for those of you who just don’t get it:

“I often hear references to higher compensation at Goldman,” said Mr Blankfein at an industry conference on Tuesday. “What people fail to mention is that net income generated per head is a multiple of our peer average. The people of Goldman Sachs are among the most productive in the world.”

Godman Sachs employees are the most productive at producing profits.

    They get paid so much
so they work so many hrs
because they get paid so much
so they work so many hrs…
    hmmmm….

Well that’s the understanding, right. Everyone knows they are the chosen ones.

Pretty soon they’ll be adapting the old Hebrew National “We answer to a higher authority” campaign. I suppose too they should apply to the IRS for a 501(c)(3) exemption since they’re doing God’s work. Their effective tax rate is already miniscule but every little bit helps.

No need to give Lloyd any more PR rope. He’s doing a great job hanging himself on his shoe strings.

  13. Posted by guest | November 11, 2009 at 10:59 AM

Looks like they gave up on PR a while back and are now just having fun antagonizing the plebes.

  14. Posted by Anal_yst | November 11, 2009 at 11:06 AM

I just fear that some crazy ex-military type like TGFD is gonna do something stupid, and then, just like in V for Vendetta, its all down (or up, depending on your perspective) hill from there

  15. Posted by guest | November 11, 2009 at 11:11 AM

@10 so you’re saying they should bring back LVP into that role?

    15=LVP

14 TGFD is not ex-military. He strikes me as the type that would cut the tip of his finger off with his own Cub Scout pocket knife. He is probably listening to his Dale Carnegie cassettes right now and waiting for someone to mention his name. Sad.

  19. Posted by guest | November 11, 2009 at 11:21 AM

    @14/Anal,
That is the beauty of GS. 90% of the populace has no direct contact with GS and know nothing about it save that they make boatloads of money. They suck money away silently from a layer above, without seemingly having a direct, material impact on anything.
The other 10%, including the tinfoils at ZH, TGFD etc. who realize this are too chicken to try anything.

  20. Posted by guest | November 11, 2009 at 11:26 AM

19 And that’s why when I see Balnkfein agian I’m gonna put lye in his coffee. Tired of this crap.

Note to @17: Find Doctor, get back on meds.

Why has their been no investigation of this firm? They paid zero in taxes, their former C-levels all work in the govt. Ruben sunk Citibank and then benefitted from it.
    Its an outrage!
They are benefitting from information that is not available to the rest of us. If Obama didnt receive $1M in donations from the firm he probably would investigate…

Maureen Dowd is in MM mode today.
She says TG is “coddling the wanton bankers.”

  25. Posted by guest | November 11, 2009 at 12:07 PM

Dowd is awful and really should shut the fuck up.

  26. Posted by guest | November 11, 2009 at 12:18 PM

@23, try Icarus and btw, don’t be trying to class up this blog with your Greek literature references.

  27. Posted by Joe Mac | November 11, 2009 at 12:20 PM

Who did Dowd copy from this time? TGFD?

@26 Kid Icarus was a helluva game.

I can’t wait for LB to start talking about the carbon footprint of each GS employee be less than that of their automaking counterparts.

  32. Posted by guest | November 11, 2009 at 12:51 PM

Why worry? God would never let anything bad happen to his ‘chosen people’.

Watch for Jon Stewart to jump on this next.

  34. Posted by guest | November 11, 2009 at 12:57 PM

@3 They talked about clubbing babies in the basement at Enron?

  35. Posted by guest | November 11, 2009 at 1:46 PM

@34…..”clubbing with babes” at Enron is what he meant. Of course, Enron declared 10 years of earnings from such clubbing to be recorded in advance and then bonuses were paid in the next quarter. Meanwhile, Fastow and his wife were setting up dummy companies in their innocent kids names at about that time from what was reported in the papers.
What is it about money that turns people into shitheels?

  36. Posted by guest | November 11, 2009 at 2:20 PM

    j. michael evens said to all of GS asia last year: “we always thought we were better than everyone else, now we know”
so proof that there are no egotistical jerks at GS

  37. Posted by guest | November 11, 2009 at 4:25 PM

    Don’t worry guys.
Remember that story about Lot being surrounded by a gang of rapists and sending out his daughters to get banged rather than the angels? Remember what happened to that prick?
Lot Blankfein will get what’s coming to him.
