    I’ve never seen a lefty crowd as repelled by someone who is supposed to be “sticking it to the man” as that. That dude needs to tone the s*it down and learn some PR skills.

    with all that contempt for lawyers, you’d think he’d be slightly less well versed in the art of being a borderline-delusional hyperbole laden, narcissistic blowhard.

  9. Posted by Anonymous | March 9, 2010 at 11:17 AM

    narcissistic blowhard, table for one

    @9 pretty sure he wasn’t like that when he first found out BM was a fraud. and obviously the media has a big hand in this.

  13. Posted by Anonymous | March 9, 2010 at 11:28 AM

    Would you like to make some naked fuck, BERSERKER!

  15. Posted by Anonymous | March 9, 2010 at 11:42 AM

    @8-9

    I suppose that comes with spending eight years of his life knowing that people were steadily being conned out of large amounts of money while he was unable to do anything about it. Eight years of knowing that he’s bright enough to figure it out by himself while paying taxes each year to support congressional windbags. Eight years of being ignored and rebuffed while the criminals feast. He’s a moral dude with a concscience that was trying to protect individual investors so he’s rightly pissed off. Even now after he’s been vindicated, nothing has changed…so he’s employing hyperbole on the talk show circuit in an attempt to shame the relevant parties into action.

    When I look at Mr. M I can’t think of anything else other than “Fashion meets Finance”

    @18 – great post!

    The fact that there are people who still snicker at Mr. Markopolos convinces me without a doubt that style wins over content time and time again. Yes, it would be great if Markopolos could polish up his style.. but so what if he doesn’t? He nailed it!

    Markopolos is well-known around the Boston quant community. He’s always come off like this; it’s not due to his big catch.

  22. Posted by Anonymous | March 9, 2010 at 5:11 PM

    dear 18,

    maybe knowing in your heart that you’re right while suffering through an 8 year barrage of being told you’re crazy day after day… maybe that’s enough to make you a little paranoid. maybe it’s enough to make you sleep with a burner under the pillow for fear that a sociopathic 135 lb. geriatric jew from far rockaway is gonna come git’ you. maybe its even enough to give you a slightly irrational outlook on life, and an inability to articulate your thoughts and emotions in a manner that doesn’t result in you being perceived as a borderline-delusional hyperbole laden, narcissistic blowhard… even if all of those things are true, the fact remained that there is simply no amount intellect, no amount of pent up vindication or self righteous sense of moral superiority that justifies a salmon on pink shirt/tie combo.

    very truly yours,

    8, esq.

    This guy is a joke in the industry.

  24. Posted by dave | March 9, 2010 at 6:47 PM

    Some joke, since everything he said was true.
    Including the “pastry cooks would have a conscience, lawyers don’t.”

    @8/22

    Re: wardrobe choices

    Agreed. He looks his mom dressed him up for Easter Sunday.

    @21

    I’m not from Boston so I’ll take your word. In that case, @3 scores extra points for being both funny and correct.

    Harry Markopolos’s discovery of fraud, and the discovery that the regulatory agency refused to do anything about it is not uncommon.

    I have put up a website, http://www.APhoneNumberForThePresident.com, which describes how a phone company attorney committed perjury by creating a fictional phone number to avoid paying millions of dollars in fines to the State of California.
    The FBI told me, it could not determine if the phone company attorney committed perjury.
    I feel the same way about the FBI as Mr. Markopolos feels towards the SEC.
