Commenting because, goddammit, I CAN.
Hopefully the site’s performance today will be replicated for many days to come and the commentariat will return en masse.
Bigger social stigma: being known to be dating someone from Wall Street or being known to date Tyra Banks?

Max Holmes at Plainfield Asset Management has some explaining to do
@1, here’s where the commentariat went:
http://stonestreetadvisors.com/2010/03/13/anal_yst-status-update-and-new-contributors/
@4 no one gives a shit about anal_yst’s site. you realize that, right?
@5 speak for yourself. He was/is one of the few intelligent commentators on here. I’m the one who’s always asking for his insight, thoughts and views.
Plus, maybe his new venture will attract investors and we’ll have a competitor to dealbook/businessinsider/dealbreaker.
Now, if only Anal_yst and Bess were to get married…
@6 “Plus, maybe his new venture will attract investors and we’ll have a competitor to dealbook/businessinsider/dealbreaker.”
hahahahaha
@7 nice
You made me laugh
I don’t have any patience for American TV. I do know who Tyra Banks is … what exactly is wrong with her, @2.
To answer part of your question: All the girls are embarrassed to date me. It’s the little plastic super heroes in the office that does them in.
@2 CFA.
bess love the changes….keep the home fires burning
Carney fired from CS. So will he be back here or has he gotten too expensive for DB?
fuck Tyra Banks.
Fuck yes @13.
Err, [redacted]
@12 “So will he be back here or has he gotten too expensive for DB?”
1) Highly doubt DB would *want* to hire him back.
2) What do you think his “I was drinking one night and hallucinated this conversation” posts are actually worth?
16,
He was a phenomenal contributor that offered very insightful aspects to a story. Bess has definitely adapted to fill that spot to a certain degree, but many of his posts were driven by the “Let’s take a stab at something of little significance and see where it takes us” analysis. EP played that schtick for a while, which, IMHO, worked tremendously; however, a good amount of >26y/o commentators/readers weren’t down (for shame).
I would love nothing more than to see him tagging posts here again, but, regardless, I’m selfishly looking forward to him writing somewhere with limited restraints.
Blodget is no Denton, and I will definitely embrace the pure schadenfreude that results from his site being abandoned by VC sooner than later.
Conclusion: Carney is a ball of talent. I would love to see him here, my favorite site to visit, but another platform/medium would be just fine. Regardless, anyone that’s a fan of DB cannot knock Carney. He is, in a weird way, the Elizabeth Spiers of Gawker. So contest that.
@mitch
this too shall pass. anal was/is funny in a bookish way.
EP tried too hard, not greggo-hard (nobody could do that), but still the cardinal sin of blogging.
Carney was the only halfway decent aspect of TBI. The commentariat they have attracted is nothing more than the standard populist who don’t know what they want. As far as I can tell they want:
1.Protectionism (Dey Turk o’r jibs)
2.Heavy Taxes (but not for them)
3.Something about banksters and the Fed causing everything bad in their life
4.Health Care (but they do not want to pay for it)
“Regardless, anyone that’s a fan of DB cannot knock Carney.”
Are you that big an idiot/fan-boy? Tons of people HATED Carney when he was here, and the tripe he produced (and continued to produce at TBI). The only upside of having him back here would be to have another GM-like punching bag.
@20 – agreed. But, you have to admit, it would be nice to have a new Greggums.
