Layoffs Watch ’10: Barclays Plans Ahead?

Congrats to all those who made it through yesterday employment intact. Having said that…

A source close close to Phil Mickelson tells us: “There are now serious rumours of a second round of redundancies at BarCap in Q4 of this year, if the business environment does not materially improve.”

It’s most efficient to dump folks just before their bonus is due. How else can you turn a profit on the compensation pool?

golf sucks. It’s a sport for boring men watched on TV by the most boring of all. But I really like golf clubs, that’s where you meet nice, down to earth folks with good attitudes and socially inclusive tendencies (unless you’re poor, or a caddy, or went to public school, or different or…insert whatever else here).

Phil also initiated coverage on the manzier subset of the apparel industry. Dana Telsey, clearly envious of Phil’s moobtastic torso, responded “no comment” through her “fabulous” male assistant.

Barclays is a second-rate organization. It’s a wanna-be player. No one wants to work there. Tons of people are still leaving voluntarily (never mind the lay-offs).

Agreed, Barclays is a shell of a bank and a mid-tier player at best. Most of the talent has left or is in the process of leaving on their own accord.

    Barclays + Lehman < Lehman
