The rich are lying to you about their cash money.

“The rich are always going to say that, you know, just give us more money and we’ll go out and spend more and then it will all trickle down to the rest of you,” Warren Buffett said in the interview. “But that has not worked the last 10 years, and I hope the American public is catching on.” [Bloomberg]

“trickle down theory hasn’t worked for 10 years” is dangerously close to a LEH/AIG reference.

-guy who’d refer you to his picture

Yeah and what about the lie that rich people don’t have to pay taxes because they will leave the country if they do. Leave them alone and they will create jobs and employ people, giving their workers a salary for the government to collect taxes on. Sounds like a trickle down tax punishment to me, Warren.

Yeah, b/c all the people living on CPW are all of a sudden going to move to Hong Kong. I remember how everyone was saying bankers were going to leave London, forgetting the obvious fact that most people like to live in places where they can speak/understand the language.

I think it is grand that Warren is warning us of all the nasty things people with money can to others with less. I will sleep well tonight knowing that he is protecting my best interests. “Goodnight Gracy.”

    Bess –

You stole my line! I’m suing!

Buffett and his fellow “guilty rich” should be compelled to write checks to the US Treasury. But, FU for saying that I should pay more taxes. Espousing propoganda like this is on par with treason.

    Really? Treason, really?

Well maybe not the generation that made the money, but the next generation or the one after will spend it.

The dirty old man has lost his marbles. He should stick to playing TSA agent with Becky when they fly together on his plane.

Note that he’s not so guilty that he voluntarily pays a cent more than he owes. If he has such a problem with his own taxes (as the richest of the rich) being too low, he should STFU until he does so.

Ah yes, because everyone’s best rational action will aggregate to a collectively optimal outcome.

Playing by the current rules doesn’t mean you cannot say the current rules are stupid. It’s optimal for Buffet to pay next to nothing via deferred capital gains, it is not optimal for all us to have Buffets pay next to nothing in taxes via deferred capital gains.

If you work for Goldman, read up on John Nash’s work. If you work for UBS/JohnThomas/JP Marlin go watch Beautiful Mind.

If you can’t spell “propaganda,” then you probably don’t know the definition of treason.

Give me a break. Buffett could write over 100% of his net worth to the treasury and it be a drop in the bucket compared to this year’s deficit, let alone the overall national debt.

When he says he favors raising the effective tax bracket on himself to be at least in line with his secretary’s, he’s saying that he’ll pay more taxes *if his peers also do so*, so that it actually has an effect on the deficit.
