    Yes, the ostentatious display was untoward. However, in the mind of the French he is vindicated in the face of a country full of dim-witted religious zealots. Today he is the very epitome of French superiority over the American provincials and their puritanical aversion to sex. Believe me, it’s all I’m gonna hear from my neighbors for the next couple weeks.

    Sarkozy could’ve smeared dung on the Mona Lisa and it wouldn’t have made DSK more of a shoo-in for next year’s election. It’s not often the Manhattan D.A. gets to play kingmaker.
