Do you have any other predictive skills that are useful?

    Bess,

I love you but you were wrong to flog this story the way you did.  I know this just a tabloid (and a great one at that), but to run that guy through the mud–and to post article after article about this based on nothing but speculation was wrong.  As it turns out, DSK will probably be released, and all that was done here was that a guy’s good name was tarnished.

    I know, I know…go fuck myself.

But that is what I think.

  26. Posted by Guest | July 1, 2011 at 3:50 PM

    That’s great.

Even more of a reason that if you were ever falsely accused of doing something to a housekeeper, that you would be given the benefit of the doubt, and had a chance to prove your innocence (which you surely would) before being perp walked and having your career ruined.

  27. Posted by early hominid | July 1, 2011 at 3:52 PM

Tarnished for awhile maybe but if he’s half as good a politician as everyone says it should be a chip shot for him to leverage victimhood and anti-Americanism into a victory over Sarkozy, who he should be able to crush like grapes.

DB’s coverage was fine, quantity and quality given the charges. Agree to disagree.   DANY/Cy Vance though is another story; big black eye.

    …and being ridiculed on Dealbreaker

  30. Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2011 at 3:54 PM

If this *was* some giant conspiracy engineered by the DGSE or the Front National or something, wouldn’t they have found someone more credible than a dodgy Guinean national with a possible connection to the drug trade to carry out their plot? And even if so, would that person really be so foolish as to call someone to discuss whether she should pursue the case? Just sayin’

  31. Posted by Guest | July 1, 2011 at 3:54 PM

How did dealbreaker “run this guy through the mud”? pretty sure every story posted about him was just a take off on reports that were already in the press.

  32. Posted by Guest | July 1, 2011 at 3:56 PM

Yes, DB’s coverage was restrained compared to most everything else in the press, and much more fair than you’d find in other outlets. I love that Guest above is under the impression Dealbreaker is responsible for ruining his reputation.

Just think that the US justice system should have worked for him as well (as I hope it would work for me and you if either one of us was ever falsely accused).

None of this is DB’s fault, obviously…  My only problem was the incessent flogging of the story…

You are so right.  If it wasn’t for Bess posting links from the press, he would have never had his name tarnished.  I mean, it is totally acceptable for a guy to be married, get blow jobs from hotel staff, all minutes before getting lunch with his daughter.  So yes, it is all Bess’ fault for DSK being scum.
