Today is bonus communication day at DB and while there are no specifics to be had just yet, apparently those hoping their decision to do the bare minimum last year would be handsomely rewarded were in for a disappointment.

“FYI: Total comp flat to down from last year. Hearing bad things for mid-to-low performers but on the bright side, it was rumored no one would get a salary bump but they came through on the increases.”

Stunningly informative. Was really wondering if comp would be flat, down or up this year.

I think he was referring to Matt's complaint about a $0 increase in salary at DealBreaker.

"Hearing bad things for mid-to-low performers"

Come to the dark side. You won't have to ever worry about performing (or not).

Speak for yourself. It takes a special kind of person to make it past 6 hours of our kind of work. We find mid-to-low performers quickly develop repetitive stress injuries and soon wash out

You would "do the bare minimum" if you saw the pieces of flair they have at that place.

BULLSHIT is all I have to say… I handed out bonus grenades to the hardest working bunch of VP's I've ever worked with, yet an incompetent "friend" of the boss joins the ranks as a new MD.

News flash – DB employees to sit on hands through summer 2012 and turn off Blackberrys after 7pm in effort to boost DB's going-green initiatives. Solar panels, waterless urinals and other green-tech expenditures deemed insufficient by Ackermann.

Snitzel for everyone yaw'll… now please pass the vasiline.

Every time a banker dies, a butterfly dances round my heart.
Remember that DB douche-bag who jumped? Amazing!

I guarantee it will make fuck all difference.
    Stop perpetuating the 'talent' myth.
Jeez – I'm a VP at a top bulge bracket and it's NOT FUCKING HARD to do this stuff.
There are thousands and thousands of qualified robots.

My ex, an MD at 60 Wall, showed his 2012 comp number to our lawyers on Jan. 25th, trying to use it as leverage in child support negotiations. Did any other MDs at DB get such any early preview?

  26. Posted by Guest | February 9, 2012 at 12:13 AM

This comment thread is so BS. Anyone has any actual numbers or just fucking around in your minds?

  27. Posted by Underpaid VP | February 9, 2012 at 8:00 AM

Tell me, much revenue do you generate?

  28. Posted by Strategy | February 9, 2012 at 8:03 AM

Defer your work in equal proportion

  29. Posted by WorkerBee | February 9, 2012 at 1:52 PM

    More than you.
Hence you're underpaid and I'm massively overpaid by any sensible yard-stick.

  31. Posted by Duhh | February 10, 2012 at 11:41 AM

Clearly your a low level performer with no concept on how to run a business beyond what goes on in your cube. Kind of tuff to deals with a room full of chiefs but no indians isn't it? Please enlighten me with more wisdow oh mr/ms buldge bracket VP…

  32. Posted by MD Pay | February 10, 2012 at 11:45 AM

    Revenues up 150%
    Bonus Down 50%
    30% Cash – 70% Stock
    More exposure to Eur FX

    PRICELESS !!!

  33. Posted by Workerbee | February 14, 2012 at 8:33 AM

Wow – so aggressive. And so many typos. No wonder you're angry.
I'm a mid-to-high-level performer. I get paid more than enough to have two nice houses, eat wherever I want, go on holiday wherever I want, buy fancy cars and send my kids to good schools.
Grow up, the world has changed. Let's stop pretending we're some precious resource – we're a bunch of people doing a technical job and we're easily replaced.
    Sorry to ruin your world.

Talent will leave at any opportunity. Mgmt is literally the worst in the biz. Any DB business card that says "Head of .." should be promptly used to wipe feces off your pooper. Place is a laughingstock.
