After 12 years of outstanding service, Lucas van Praag, global head of Corporate Communications, will retire from the firm at the end of March. We are pleased that Lucas will continue to provide strategic advice as a consultant to Goldman Sachs…Lucas has played a critical role in helping the firm navigate through one of the most difficult and testing environments the firm has faced, particularly during the recent financial crisis and its aftermath. His strategic counsel and deep understanding of complex issues defined his career at the firm as did his warmth, natural inclusiveness and determination in the face of relentless demands. The countless hours he spent with external constituencies was matched by the time and attention he committed to all of us, explaining and engaging on important issues and trends. Lucas was a tireless advocate and we are pleased that we will continue to benefit from his judgment and experience. Please join us in thanking Lucas for his extraordinary contributions to the firm and wishing him, Miranda and their family the best in the future. [Deal Journal, earlier]

I guess the wind has finally changed direction.
I sincerely hope Dealbreaker is slaving away over a "Greatest Hits van Praag" post so we can revel in the Glory of Lucas.
I take it back! Come back!

Bess,
Still in the market for a columnist? This guy would be gold.
When you punctuate every sentence in the above article with the words 'in bed', it begins to take on interesting new meaning.
I wanted to make a joke about Matt putting together graphs to help us mere mortals understand how the of the second derivative of Goldman's stock price was affected by Lucas' rhetoric but instead I need to send Bess some love for the tag: I'm not crying YOU'RE crying

just waiting on you, vP.
Miranda is a lucky, lucky lady.
where is he going? back to Brunswick?
He did God's work.
Back to Prague?
I'm sure LVP didn't channel Johnny Paycheck and state in his own inimmitable way, "Take this form of employment and propel it in an area that is, while subjective, physiologically referenced as an unusual location among the common workers of America."
Or, "I have no intentions of committing that which those among us may expect I would commit, which is, I am certain you are already aware, succumb to a slight hostility upon my departure."
If GS looking for a replacement I think Baghdad Bob is available.
van Praag, you magnificent bastard, I read your book!
