“Jennings asked him to stop somewhere for food before taking the highway, so he took him to a deli on 10th Avenue, a stop that helped police investigators identify the banker, Ammar said. Video footage from the deli allowed police to recognize Jennings after Ammar said he was unable to remember the location of the banker’s house in Connecticut.” [BusinessWeek, earlier]

I did not know that there were racist bigoted mean white people in Darien CT? Does anyone know Nick Bruno? I heard he has a big middle finger.

…and I would have gotten away with it if it wasn't for the meddling security cameras.

"The police had to rely on the video footage to identify the suspect, after being unable to put together a line-up when stand-ins for William McKinley and Grover Cleveland could not be located."

Detective: Do you remember where you were that night?
Jennings: I was returning some videotapes.

Class, what we have here is an example of a responder failing to understand the sarcasm of the original poster. The original poster was mocking a highly compensated Wall Street executive's bragging about paying a sum of property taxes, a supposed measure of financial superiority, that even moderately compensated middle class homeowners in the NYC Metro area typically pay. The humor, lost on the responder, is that his brag would not impress anyone.

Class, what we have here is someone (Sarcasm docent) who knows all of the details and obviously has too much free time on his hands. If one reads Bess' post and then Shiznitt's the response is reasonable. Now go fuck yourself and get back to work.

The police were not able to identify Jennings from that video. Jennings turned himself in and identified himself to the police in Darien. Additionally, Jennings pays close to $28,000 in real estate taxes so why in the world would he brag about $10k. That makes no sense. This cabbie is a liar.
